i have had vaginal burning and some itchiness for a week after using diflucan. I have no discharge so am unsure if it is thrush. I use the cream and this helps for a few hours.
Have been using vagisil for urethral burning as well but it is definitely vaginal

I assume you were put on the Diflucan due to a yeast infection. If the Diflucan is not strong enough or you need more than one to kill the yeast you can have a re occurance of the symptoms after a few days.
You can have yeast and have no vaginal discharge. You probably need to have a pelvic and smear under the microscope.
When I get yeast I have terrible urethral burning and pain, and then it goes into my bladder. I need almost three Diflucan 200 mg taken one three days apart to really kill a yeast infection.

You really need to see your doctor to find out what's going on.

Isn't a yeast infection called thrush when it's in the mouth? Just asking...

rosesitty,
thats the most common form of thrush but you can get it anywhere. Its sooooooo easily spread given that our bodies are warm anyway.
Hope you feel better soon sleepyangel - I agree with the other ladies, you need to see your doctor to be tested - you may need more than just diflucan.

My reference books define thrush as a fungus infection of the mouth and throat.

I am in the UK so yeast infections are called thrush. I used a Canesten pessary last time but went to the pharmacist and asked for advice so have got a tablet form this time- hope it doesn't flare my bladder!

I'd say talk to your doctor. You need to be sure it is yeast and the only way is with the help of a doctor. If it is maybe you have a kind that is resistant to Diflucan so ask for a culture. If the doctor says it is yeast but says that it will take some time for culture results you may want to look into some strong probiotics.

Can anybody help me? I am in the UK. I was on antibiotics for 6 wks and finished them 1 month ago. I am suffering from a persistant yeast infection. I have tried canesten, diflucan neither have helped. I think that the yeast may be in my gut, How do I get rid of it. I am at my wits end.

:hi: Katie. Have you gotten a culture to determine if your yeast responds to Diflucan? Nystatin may help more. A Strong probiotic should probably be part of the treatment for a bit to help restore normal flora. Hope that helps :grouphug:

YEAST LIST: Boric Acid, Aci-gel (insert it at night, it maintains the ph of the vagina & yeast can't live when there's an acidic environment - or can use apple cider vinegar in water TAKE CAUSION IF YOUR URETHRA IS SENSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!) and also washing externally with tea-tree oil diluted in water. \acidopholous tablets, a wet towel with s AZO yeast, http://www.ghtbiz.net/rescue/nocandida/lead.html, Any probotics, Flora-Q The Flora-Q is made by Kenwood Therapeutics. It contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus paracasel, and Streptococcus thermophilus -- these are all bacteria that normally live inside your digestive tract. What you do is take a capsule a day for a few days during antibiotic treatment and then a couple afterwards, and this replaces your normal flora, making it much less likely to to get yeast infections. http://www.ic-network.com/iclifestyles/july01.html list of ideas (Nystatin, Diflucan by prescription.) For oral thrush that keeps coming back: change your tooth brush
For the yeast infection that won't go away: Make sure it is a yeast infection, get a culture done maybe your doctor can find out what medicine your yeast will respond to. Look into possible hormone problems if you are post metapousal. THREELAC or other probotics that are different than the capsul or oral ....probotics come in many kinds and if simple kids don't work out there are other options.
