I don't quite understand what you mean when you say your bladder size is big! Do you mean that your stomach swells up, or is it that when you pee it's a really large amount? When you say it hurts to sit, what part of you hurts? You don't think it's got something to do with your testicle problem do you? I wish I could help but I think you need to give us a few more facts.....okay!!

First of all, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to the ICN! We are glad to have you here. It is nice to "meet" you, although I am sorry that it had to be under these circumstances.[ But, we are glad to have you here, and hope you will return often so that we can have you as part of our IC family. I have to agree that we need a bit more info to properly help you. Namely, we need the answers to the questions the previous poster asked. Also, have you been diagnosed with IC? If so, what are your IC symptoms? Do you have urinary frequency and/or urgency? Do you have pelvic pain? Does your pain increase as your bladder fills? How many times a day do you go to the restroom? Do you have nightime urination? If so, how frequent? Is sex painful for you? Is it painful to have an erection? Do you feel like you have emptied all the way after you urinate? Do you have lower back, flank, hip, or thigh pain? Is the pain shooting, burning, stabbing, cramping, etc? Please describe it. Is is constant or does it come and go? Is it worse when you eat or drink certain foods? Does spicy food or caffiine increase your syptoms? Please answer these questions so we can better address some of your concerns. As for the sitting, you could have pelvic floor dysfunction, or nerve entrapment involving the pudential nerve. (The pudential area is the area between your privates and your anus.) There are several meds that assist with this, such as muscle relaxors, and some anti-depressants, (like Elavil),help some people with this problem. Still others opt for physcial therapy for this area either in conjunction with medication, or as a solitary treatment. Others find pudental nerve blocks to be a very effective treatment for this. (Again, that is if the pain from sitting is coming from that area.)Are you currently under the care of a General Practioner or a Urologist? What tests have they done on you so far? What medications are you currently taking? What have you taken so far that hasn't worked? And why didn't they work? (i.e. Did you have to stop any meds due to undesirable or intolerable side effects?) The "swollen bladder" is quite common among ICers. I don't know if others have inflammation, but my sedimentation rates (SED rates), are always elevated when my dr does blood work. My dr. said my "swelly belly" is due to the inflammation. My "swelly belly"comes and goes, depending on how badly I am flaring day to day. However, there can be many other medical reasons for having a swollen stomach. It is very important to see your doctor to have these other things ruled out, particularly if this is a new symptom for you. Again, since you have not told us that you have definatively been diagnosed with IC, your swollen bladder gives me great cause for alarm. Please discuss this with your doctor, when you discuss your other symptoms with him/her. I have not seen anything on the boards from our male IC patients regarding testicular problems. However, we do have a special section devoted exclusively to male IC Patients. If you post in that area, perhaps some of them might be able to better address that particlar issue.I hope you will be able to respond soon, so we can get you pointed in the direction of help as soon as possible. Meanwhile, I hope you feel better. Sincerely, Amy

I just now went back and read your old posts. I see that you had the cystocopy done about a year ago. Did they do a hydrodistention at the same time? What were the results of your cystoscopy? Did they diagnose you with IC based on this? Did it show Hunner's Ulcers? Did it show any pinpoint bleeding? Did it show any kind of damage? What was your bladder capacity? Have you been symptomatic or having an IC flare since this bladder swelling began? Can you link the beginning of your swelling or any other symptoms to any new or forbidden drink, food, or medication you have ingested? Sorry so many questions, but I think the answers to these will prove quite beneficial to those of us wanting to help you. ---Amy

Thanks for reply guys.
I still have urinary frequency/urgency. Yes I do have pelvic pain. Yes pain increased when bladder fills. In a day I go to restroom around 10-12 times and night around 4 times. I am unable to sleep at night which ruined my day too. As far as sex, I feel pain in my bladder specially in one testicle. I always feel pain when I sit. As I mentioned earlier the size of the bladder is big like a balloon and its hurts. Not sure if certain foods or drinks cause the problem. No pain in pudential area only in Pelvic and inside the bladder (specially in testicle).
Currently, I am not under any General Practioner or a Urologist. They did blood test and cystocopy. While doing cystocopy, they asked me how much pressure I can bear and they gave me some medicine. i don’t the name of the medicine but I used them but did not help me much. Those medicine gave me drowsiness, my stomach did not work properly, blurred vision etc. so I stopped the medicine. you asked about hydrodistention, what is this?
I have been diagnosed for frequently urine problem and having one testicle. I don’t know about IC? By the way what is IC? I don’t know about that either.
Hopefully this information is enough to get the right direction

Who did the "testing" on you if you don't have a GP or a URO? Sounds strange to me...

I am not sure how one testical can affect things. Perhaps someone else might have some input on that one. However I do feel you need to be under the care of a urologist. Many of the symptoms you have sound like interstitial cystitis (IC), but they could also be many other things. There are links at the top of the page to the Interstitial Cystitis Handbook, and there is a very good definition of it there. Until you can get into see a urologist, I urge you to keep a journal and record your pain levels throughout the day, write down all the foods you have eaten and beverages you have consumed. I would also keep track of your voiding activity. This will be helpful to your urologist in diagnosing you. I also recommend that you click on the link in the Interstitial Cystitis Handbook for the IC Diet at the top of the page. This is a diet for people who have interstital cystitis. Even if it turn out that you dont have IC, it wont hurt you to try it for now. And, if it turns out you DO have IC, you could benefit significantly from the dietary changes. I am glad that you have found us. I hope that you will take the time to read other posts on the site. I truly think they will be quite beneficial to you. I have had IC for years, but I only found this site this past January. However, I have learned more from this site in the last few months, than I did in all the other years on my own. I sincerely hope it will help you too. Best wishes, and please make that urologist appointment soon!

I do agree with you Amy. :)
fre_urine_prob: I too, hope that you find the information you are looking for on this web site. I don't know what I would have done without it. I didn't find it either right away...I wish I had.
Good luck and please let us know how you make out.
