Ok, I've thought and thought and I am going to ask my Uro tomorrow about this and the topomax. I'm not really to sure on the topomax but will get his thoughts on it. I at least want to try the Cystotec. Will see what he says about not taking birth control with it. Trying to keep good thoughts. :)

PW, can you print out any literature, like the abstract of the Belfast study, to take to the doctor?
The drug is cytotec, which i assume is pronounced "SIGH-toh-tek", and it's other name is misoprostol (MY-zoh-PROSS-tall???).
The topamax ,ay be something that has been used for pain, but it may help you tolerate an antidepressant and not gain so much weight? The doctor will definitely have to examine the ideas and tell you the answers.
I am glad you had enough hope to consider trying something new. Please try to stick with it for a while if it's a bit rough. many people seem to adjust to the cytotec after a week or two, and then you could really see if you can live with taking the stuff longer.
Hopefully we can band together and try to get through any rough spots to the point where you can see what it will be like to live on the drug long term.
But i personally think it's important that you find an antidepressant to try to use, esp if you continue to have bladder troubles. Because your outlook seems so depressed at other times.
i am very hopeful that something good might come of this. But remember, PW, there are still other ideas to explore, like maybe some new thing that helps you tolerate the ultram again.

I have been on elavil for two years. I actually lost 20lbs. weight. The best advice is be aware of what you are eating. If you are craving food remind yourself that it could be the drugs and ask am I eating the right amount of calories for my weight?
I found that sugarless gum is my friend to stop myself from eating.
