Hello all,
I haven't been on in a couple of months, i'm sorry i haven't been able to help anyone, just haven't found anything that has helped me to talk about! I've been on Elmiron 2 months now, i have seen no difference with frequency/urgency and i know i need to give it more time, but i would like to start school back in May and i don't have that much time! I doubt the Elmiron has caused it but i have been having pain now that i've never had b4, it comes and goes, sharp pain thru my vagina, side, and abdomen, when it comes it really hurts! Does anyone with IC have this or does anyone know if it's normal to have this kind of pain with IC??? I can't afford to go back to the doctor now, especially if all he's gonna say is that's normal for an IC patient! 2nd question Does anyone know if my uro will give me the Elmiron instills with me taking Elmiron orally for only 2 months and is it a good indication if i take the Elmiron orally and the Elmiron instills that it won't take soooo long to work??? 3rd question Does anyone think it helps to hold the water in the bladder for awhile when taking Elmiron, cause whenever i drink something 30 seconds i have to urinate, Does it matter if i urinate 30 seconds afterwards or not??? Last question, I have been thinking about getting my tubes tyed, Does anyone know if it will affect my condition or possibly make it better lol, which i doubt??? Sorry so many questions, maybe 1 day i will find something that will help me and i will let yaw know!
Thanks, wambagirl27

yes I get that pain often, but still tell yout uro..

Does anyone know if my uro will give me the Elmiron instills with me taking Elmiron orally for only 2 months and is it a good indication if i take the Elmiron orally and the Elmiron instills that it won't take soooo long to work???

generally it takes 6 to 8 months for Elmiron to work.. It wouldn't hurt to ask ;)

3rd question Does anyone think it helps to hold the water in the bladder for awhile when taking Elmiron, cause whenever i drink something 30 seconds i have to urinate, Does it matter if i urinate 30 seconds afterwards or not???

holding as long as you can is actually very good to help stretch your bladder..

I am like you I can see a drink or hear water running and I have to go..

I have been thinking about getting my tubes tyed, Does anyone know if it will affect my condition or possibly make it better lol, which i doubt???

do you have children? or want to have any.. your age will have a factor on it too... I went for a tubal when my 17 1/2 year old daughter was in preschool after lossing a sset of twins... so up untill last ear I thought I was fixed... guess what it never got done.. my gyn found out when done a lap looing for endo..
ask away that why we are here :)

Hey Tigger_gal,
Yes i have 1 child, she is 7 and i haven't stopped peeing since i've been pregnant and because of that i don't want anymore children, i've had a lot of problems since i've had her! I'm 28 and i've told myself i don't want to have anymore children past 28, that's just me though! The Elmiron thing doesn't make sense if it doesn't speed up the process doing instills also then what's the point of doing it? Thanks for replying to my questions and u said u have the same kind of pain i do huh, i'm just wondering why is my pain just starting after all these years? Have u always had ur pain when having first getting IC?
Thanks, wambagirl27 :headbang:

Sounds like spasms....you should try to get on an antispasmodic. It is a pain that is common with IC but also treatable in a different way.
http://www.remedyfind.com/newsletter_archives/Jan_06_InterstitialCystitis.html alternative start for IC There are some antispasmodic ideas here if you can't afford to see a doctor although I recommend you talk to your doctor about this.
2nd question Does anyone know if my uro will give me the Elmiron instills with me taking Elmiron orally for only 2 months and is it a good indication if i take the Elmiron orally and the Elmiron instills that it won't take soooo long to work???
Many patients have had Elmiron instills while taking Elmiron orally but weather or not your doctor will do this I do not know but I do know it is done.

Surgeries can be hard on the bladder but if you are careful and rest and allow yourself to heal you can likely turn out ok. :)

On holding the water...yes that can help stretch your bladder but if your in pain right now it is not a good time to do that.

Feel free to contact me if I can help you anymore! :grouphug:
