Well i saw the uro today and i talked to her and said i wanted to try all the other instillations before the DMSO. TO me DMSO is a last resort for instillations. So she did a steriod and lidocane instillation. Then 1/2 hour later u have to pee it out and of course i couldnt go so i had to go back to her and she had to catherize me again to take it out!! only after instillations i cant pee. So im in tons of pain. especailly burning!!! Just keep the prayers coming.. i really need them!!!!!
Thannks...

Hi Laura,
My dr. recommended DMSO instills and I got too scared to try them. Instead I am on Elavil and it is helping tremendously! Wish someone would have given me that option five years ago. I will pray for you and wish you the best of luck with your instills! Amy

 Was this your first installaion or had you tried others before?

if your uro recommends Chlorpactin - I'd be VERY hesitant to do it. It is the worst of all the instills out there and it burns. DMSO burns much less than any of the other instills I think (I've had silver nitrate, chlorpactin, DMSO, heparine, marcaine, lidocaine) but then again, none of them worked for me and all of them burned :( But chlorpactin was the absolute worst!

Good luck with them, I pray you get some relief!

I certainly would not put a steroid on the top of the list of which instill to try first either.
DMSO burns much less than any of the other instills I think (I've had silver nitrate, chlorpactin, DMSO, heparine, marcaine, lidocaine) From talking to others I would say that is a very unique experience....heparin, marcaine, lidocaine all are normally soothing. Not burning at all. :grouphug:
