oooops baby is on my lap and hit that. Anyways, I have had bad sinus symptoms for two months now! I have always been prone to colds easily but never had something last this long. I feel like it's never gonna go away. I have had sinus xrays and apparently there is a blockage on my left sinus but the Dr says my symptoms don't explain everything. Like I got ear trouble on the opposite side and the headache and dizziness, and throat hurting is unrelated to where the block is. So I have been on two courses of antibiotics now. No improvement. The Dr says he will put me on a few meds next week if its no better trying to unblock where the sinuses have some blockage. He said another antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and prednizone. I just feel like this is never going to end. I am super dizzy all the time and all I want to do is sleep. I feel like I am never going to get better. Has anyone ever been through this before? Please be in touch. Do these things last months sometimes and still run their course? Ann

hmm.....my sinusitis gets pretty bad because of allergies! Specifically pollen! :headbang: Pollen can reek havoc on my sinuses for weeks on end. Is the doc sure it is bacterial? Hopefully, the antibiotics will help.

I wish I had a magic solution for us both! :) I'm doing okay so far on the Atarax but allergy season isn't in full swing yet!

Hi Kara....ya, I have the allergies too. I have taken Zyrtec for it and been very successful with it. Unfortunately this is different. I can tell. I mean it's like I've been sick for months now. I'm really scared! Thanks for replyng though. I hope you feel better. Ann

You can try sniffing saline water, it helps clear up infections in the sinuses.

I've been battling my sinuses & allergies for several months now. Been through rounds of antibiotics & tried all the allergy meds & prednisone. I think my allergies are turning into sinus infections all the time. I had an appointment with an allergy doctor this morning & had allergy testing done. I'm gonna have to write a thread about it because I'm pretty upset about the news. I have to have an allergy shot every week. Yuck! I'm sorry , enough about me, I hope you can get this taken care of.

Have you tried flonase? This works great for me, but takes a bit to build it up. It is a nasal spray. Be careful of any decongestants as they are major bladder enemies.

Took my daughter to the naturopath who claims her headaches, stomachaches, fatigue, and sinus drip and stuffiness since an infant is all due to gluten dairy sensitivity/allergies. Hard to elliminate, but at sometime we need to try. PeeVee.

I have been having really bad sinus problems and tried like every over the counter stuff they make and none really works i could be good one day and then the next not good and so on. Some over the counter stuff really bothers my stomach. Is getting an antibotic or alleregy meds the only fix for this, I have a doctors appointment tomarrow and I want to make sure that I get something right the first time cause I cant stand the pain anymore. :headbang: If it is not my stomach bothering me it is my head and I feel as though I could go crazy.

Well now I started prednisone and more antibiotics today. I got really scared though when I was reading the side effects of prednisone. Weight gain and water retention is a big one for me because I am working so hard to lose the weight from just having a baby. I'm really nervous about that. It also mentions many serious side effects like eye diseases being an example. I am only on it for ten days but really scared. Has anybody taken this? Is it possible to not get side effects from this? Ann

OH sheesh......I could NOT handle prednisone! I was supposed to take it for 10 days as well, but didn't even make it past 3. The water retention was MAJOR! I was swollen up like a balloon! :( UGH.

However, when you stop taking it, the bloat subsides in a week or so. I can't stand the way I feel on prednisone. ick.

Anniepie, your inbox is full.

I was really nervous about taking prednisone too. I didn't have any problems with it except for it irritating my bladder. It also made me irritable myself. I wasn't pleasant to be around.

I really recommend asking your doctor who prescribed it for you or your pharmacist about it if you're really worried about the side effects.

I hope it works for you & can get your sinuses under control!

I hope if the allopathic approach doesn't work, you can search out a good naturopath or alternative practictioner. There a lot of natural antihistamines such as perilla, rosemary, butterbur (pedola) and even quercitin which does double duty for IC'ers. My daughter has this chronic post nasal drip in the morning and the natural clinic said right off the bat it is gluten and diary. She is started on the diet and they gave her quercitin.

I did have a nasty sinus infection though that cleared with antibiotics but I guess the chronic ones are allergies (pollen, food) and mold, so I hear. Good luck. My mother takes low dose predisone for arthritis.
