Alright I did my first home Marcaine instill. Thanks to the info from Kadi and just reading others posts. I did it no problem. I found the Marcaine took the bladder pain away - I was able to hold it over 2 hours which I can't even go that long without urinating. I did find that night my frequency was greatly increased just like that of a flare or after a hydro that night.

Emailed my uro-he is in the OR all day. Got a response from the NP she told me the increase of frequency should decrease with more treatments. Orginally, the uro said try these everyday. Well, I can't do these everynight and then be up all night.............. to go to work in the next AM. I had to take an FML today because of being up all night and I did the treatment on Saturday night. I even did DMSO on Saturday nights and still made it to work on Mondays. I don't know.

I wanted to try the home instills so I could get more sleep at night. As the end result is I am up all night to pee and of 20 year is IC it has caught up with me. I am having a hard time working. I still do my share of work- and the quality no change. I just physically am so fatigued at the end of the shift and on my weekends off. I hope more instills improve .

glad the marcaine helps so. I've done the plain marcaine treatment before when i had already maxed out the heparin installments (this was when i had a stint in my kidney and in a lot of pain.)
have you tried Heparin, Marcaine, water mixer. (only) nothing else added to see if you can take a rescue treatment that way?
just a thought to see if it will work.
remember hon there is no quick fixes to IC all takes time to see if they will work or not. Marcaine is so much better then lidocane to me, plus safer for other reason for everyone.
sending you hugs and prayers

Hmm, when I do a Marcaine/Heparin/SodBicarb instill, I sleep all night, maybe wake up once for a bathroom trip.

You may want to try holding it less time. 2 hours is a lot for the first time. I started out at 20 minutes only, then increased up to about 50-60 min. More than that & I have burning. Fell asleep with it in once and spent the next day wetting my pants.

It took a while to find my personal combination of catheter type/size, formula of solution, hold time, etc. So, if you did have some relief, you may find it worth talking to your doctor about problem-solving what's not going exactly right.

Good luck! Have been sending up prayers for you!
