Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know that I am having my first hydro with biopsy this am. I tried to avoid it but after doing my research I decided to go ahead with it. I am hoping I will have success with the procedure and can have several months of a pain free bladder. I turn the big 50 this summer and it would be nice to go to Vegas as planned and cut loose rather then live the way I have been for the last almost 6 months.
Just wanted some prayers from you guys and to let all of you know how much I appreciate your knowledge and kindness towards myself and each other. This board has helped me so much! I really was lost when I first got diagnosed back in December. Thank god I found you guys!
I'll write and let you know how things went as soon as I am up for it. Hopefully later today! I am having my procedure done at the Surgery Center in Santa Cruz so I will come home after it.

Hope all went well. I go to Vegas every year. I find with a lot of water and not so much walking I can still have a great time.

Thanks everyone for your hugs, prayers and support! I really appreciate it. Everything went well. The uro didn't see any Hunners Ulcers just the Glomerulations. He will call me with the results from the biopsy in a few days. He really feels positive that he can get me and my bladder on the road to better days ahead! Keeping my fingers crossed.
I had quite a lot of pain with urinating yesterday after the procedure and all night. I don't think I ever went into a deep sleep, so I am exhausted right now. I think I will go crawl into bed and take a good long nap.
Thanks again and hope you all are having a pain free day.

Carol,
I am so happy to hear it went well. I was in an awful amount of pain after mine but I think that my case was a little unusual. Hopefully you will be feeling better in a couple days and planning your trip to Vegas!! That sounds great.
Take Care

:grouphug: I hope you feel better very soon and that the hydro will keep your symptoms controlled for many months.

I had no additional pain from it. I had a reduction in pain for two days and then my usual baseline pain was back. For some reason I had a lot of vaginal burning which I think was caused from the nurse spilling some dmso when she removed the catheter. I had a dmso instill right after my cysto with hydro distention. Hope you feel much better from it.

Thanks Sarah, Marsi and Donna! I had an rough first night so I was pretty beat-up yesterday, but feel great today! I didn't even have to take any pain medicine last night. This is good a thing! I hope that I will have several pain free months or years as well. Wow, wouldn't that be great! Wishing you all pain free days, months or longer as well :grouphug:

Carol,
Glad to hear you're feeling ok. My daughter has IC and had her second hydrodistention a week ago. She's doing ok. Her first one helped her feel better for about 5 1/2 months so it was worth it. Hoping yours will do the same or better! I've been reading this message board for a long time but just recently started posting. The people here are so awesome and supportive. So glad my daughter and I have this resource. Thanks everyone!

Thanks IC Mom. How severe is your daughters IC? Just wondering. I have a mild case and the uro didn't find and Hunners. Just wondering if that is why I am recovering so quickly or if it is going to get worse. Right now I'd say I'm already where I was before the surgery. Just a little tired, bladder pain is good though. Oh, and I am glad you found us. This board is a life saver for me. I didn't post in the beginning either, I just was gathering information and of course dealing with denial. It took me awhile to jump in, but when I did everyone instantly made me feel so welcome! Good luck to you and your daughter!

Carol,
I still have a lot to learn. I don't know what Hunners is. I'll research it. I would say my daughter's IC is moderate. I have noticed some people on these boards mention being in remission. I wonder what brings remission. Guess if we knew that, there would be no IC. I know just what you mean about feeling welcome here. It's an amazing place, this message board! So glad you're doing ok...hang in there!

Just wanted to say that my daughter's hydro has really, really helped her! It's been 9 days since she had it and she's feeling really well. :woohoo: A hydro isn't really that fun to go through but if it helps you to feel better for several months, we think it's worth it. I know they don't help everyone. Here's hoping for successful hydros for all who have them done.

Hi IC Mom, I have a question for your daughter if you don't mind. I had my hydro w/biopsy done on Monday. I felt horrible the first night then better on Tuesday, but started having bad pain again Wednesday - Friday. It hurt so bad to urinate last night, just like razor blades again. My uro said it would get worse before it got better, so I am wondering if this is just part of the healing process. How long did you daughter take before she started feeling better and did her symptoms get worse before they got better? Thanks, BigFig
P.S. Hope her symptoms continue to improve and she is pain free forever!

BigFig,
My daughter's uro says the same thing and it's been true. She did get worse before she got better. I think that's typical. But I'm just a tad concerned that you felt better the next day and then it got worse. Probably nothing to be concerned about but if you're worried, call the doctor. My daughter basically laid around with her heating pad for a week. On about the 8th or 9th day, she finally really felt well. I'm sure it's an individual process. Keep me posted. I hope you're feeling better very soon. Like I said before, this increased pain after the hydro has really been worth it to my daughter so keep positive thoughts, ok?
