Let's see what kind of response we get here...wondered what type of books everyone reads #1, #2 what authors do you like?

My favorite author is Joy Fielding, I read her books in like 5 days or less! She writes Fiction, she writes about one a year and for me it's not nearly enough!!

I also like Fern Michaels & other romance authors.

I like mystery books and Mary Higgins Clarke is my favorite. A close second is J.A. Jance.

Wow!! I used to read Mary Higgins Clark YEARS ago, I found her plots were the same for the most part just different characters. For a young adult author I like Judy Blume, I have all of hers & I normally don't read books more than once but hers I've read over & over again:-)

I'm glad I started this thread!!!!

I almost forgot --- they are old, and the author is no longer alive, but the James Herriot books are wonderful and I re-read them about once a year.

And Mary Higgins Clark just gets better every year! Definitely not the same plots and no explicit sexual content.

Donna, when did Mary Higgins Clark's book plots start to change? I haven't read any of her books in almost 10 years!

I think it's just a matter of her improved writing skills. Her books are almost always on the best seller lists and our Costco store sells them out within days.

I like Mary Higgins Clark too! James Patterson is always an adventurous read. Sue Grafton is funny, I think. And I like the Janet E. series! They are a hoot.

Sweet Potato Queens is hilarious! Has anyone read that?

I like just about anything, (James Patterson, John Grisham, Sidney Sheldon, Fern Michaels, Nora Roberts, Joy Felding.) You name it I probably read something by him/her. I read about a book a week. (depends on what I'm doing-- start on Monday nights and usually finish by Saturday afternoons.)

James Patterson, John Grisham, NOra Roberts, Kay Hooper, Tami Hoag. and many more. I love read during my breaks at work and lunch. I read a lot at home that is why I don't get anything else done. When I have a good book, it's hard for me to put it down.

For me, it would be Aldous Huxley...I can see him as the vigilant type. The use of satire often seems 6ish to me. Satirical writers are often interested, informed, and concerned about society and use that form of writing to showcase the problems and inadequecies that they see.

I enjoy the accounts of pioneer life in Laura Ingalls Wilder's books (very different than the TV show LOL). She wrote as a children's author, but has a large following of adults who continue to read her books out of nostalgia and interest. She had an amazing life and saw so many things, from covering the west in a covered wagon to traveling cross country by automobile. Its amazing to think of all the changes she saw in her lifetime.

I like all of the above authors mentioned ...lol. Picked up The Closers by Michael Connoly today and my Mom picked up Tami Hogg's new one.

I just finished a series by Nora Roberts, The Calhoun Sisters (two books) and another series by Nora Roberts, The Garden Trilogy. Both series very good.

Liz...you mentioned you like Lisa Jackson, I just saw a book of hers "Fatal Burn" today, have you read it. I have never heard of this author but it sounded very interesting. Was wondering what her writing was like ?

Right now I'm into The Broker by John Grisham, his books I can't put down and another really good author that I don't think mentioned is John Saul. His books keep you reading until your done !
