Hi:
I am just curious on what basis did he decide to test you for Lyme, I mean what are your symptoms that might indicate Lyme?

i was clinically diagnosed with lyme in nov 2005. My blood work came back IND one band short of CDC positive for current infection.
I know of a few people who have lyme and IC.
I havent been diagnosed with IC yet, but i do have VV :-(
Feel free to private message me.

I got a bad tick bite over the summer. They didn't test me but put me on 2 months of antibiotics because I has the classic sign. Then after 13 years of being pain free the IC came back full force. After the IC calmed down, now they tell me I might have IBS. Hope this helps.

Stacy,
How did your Lyme test go? What were the results?

The test was negative but the doctor wanted to try me on antibiotics anyway. I went on Doxy for a total of 12 hours when my IC pain went to like a 9 or 10...it KILLED my bladder. She prescribed a different antibiotic to start trying but I was still recovering from my cysto/hydro so I haven't tried it yet...not really that excited to try it after the doxy incident. Thanks for asking!

Hi Stacy, I've been tested many, many times over the years. I've been bitten by deer ticks, have some symptoms of Lyme Disease, yet the test comes back negative EVERY time. The last doc even sent it to a special lab, as he said some labs will miss it. He also told me that labs in different parts of the country do not test CORRECTLY for it because they are unaware of how to look for it. I've still got the strange mystery symptoms nobody knows nothing about!
I hope you feel better soon!

Stacy,
Chrissy is right. Almost all labs don't know how to test for it properly (part of why there is such controversy over Lyme disease is because there isn't an accurate test for it). I am going to do my test through the Bowen Lab because they are the most accurate but even then there's problems with it I hear. My point is the test is the LEAST important part of the diagnosis from what I've read. The doctor needs to evaluate you based on your symptoms. As well, part of the evaluation is based on how you respond to antibiotics used to treat Lyme disease. If you experience a worsening/exaggeration of symptoms you could very well be experiencing a Herxheimer effect which is when the Lyme bugs are killed off faster than your body can process (you feel so sick because toxins are released into your body faster than your liver can detoxify). I don't mean to patronize you. If you've already read this stuff before sorry. I just wanted to make sure I told you what I've read/heard about Lyme.
So maybe the reason you felt sicker on the Doxy is because it was working? Did your doctor mention that possibility?
