I've been having mucusal discharges for about 6 months. When I pee and go to wipe myself I see mucus hanging from my vaginal area and in my clitoris. I apologize for being graphic and I know it sounds disgusting and it kind of is but I'm concerned. I've seen my gynocologist and he took a sample and said he was going to culture it. I didn't hear from him again, but I know it is not normal. Could it be coming from my bladder or is it something that is just in my vaginal area. Is this something that is related to bacterial vaginosis? I'm going to see my gyno again because I feel that this may be causing some of my pelvic pain. I also have yeast which I can't get under control. When I take Diflucan it goes away but as soon as stop it's back. I've taken Diflucan for 2 weeks every other day twice already and it's persisting. What concerns me more though is the mucus. Does anybody else have this problem and perhaps has gotten a diagnosis or a probable cause? LOL'

Unless this is something new you can probably chalk it up to normal cervical/vaginal discharge. Since the Dr never called you back it might a good idea to call him to see what, if anything, showed up on the culture.
good luck

I agree with Diana, I would definitely place a call to my doc to inquire on the results of my culture and that it just may be normal discharge. I have the same thing happen, usually due to hormones and ovulation. It's most copious around ovulation, and gradually tapers off closer to my period, but is still very present, only drier. And some months it's more obvious than others, it's ever changing... It's never the same from month to month, and it's different now than it was when I was younger, boy - isn't being a girl fun??? LMAO!
I do know that when I had BV, the mucous was not normal smelling, I could tell something was wrong - it's what prompted me to head to the doc's office, and they pretty much knew right away what it was. So, again give your doc a call to see if they found anything!!
Do keep us posted!

I have that discharge every month around ovualtion, alot of people have that around ovulation, I think it is very very common, however I have never known of any discharge to come out of the clitoris. Are you sure the discharge is coming out of the clitoris, could the discharge just be coming out of the vagina and kind of be getting on everything down below. I would make a call to your doctor, and see if they can get you in and see whats going on for sure. I hope it gets better for you.

So is there anything you take or that you do to minimize the discharge? Or is it just one of those "live with it" things?
I have noticed a rise and fall in discharge along with IC and vulvodynia. It can feel almost acidic like it is burning my vulvar skin. When I first got sick, it was miserable. I felt wet all the time and my underwear were soaked. That was especially miserable in the hot summer months. As I've been treated for IC/vulvodynia, it has improved some. Ovulation means more discharge for a few days. So, hopefully if you can get your IC treated effectively, you may see a change in the discharge amount. Interestingly, when my IBS symptoms flare, I get a little increase in discharge.

You mention you have yeast at the same time. A bad yeast infection can create a copious discharge. You need a culture especially since the Diflucan isnt helping, it could be a diferent species than Candida or something else.

Hi, I'm probably the resident expert on cervical mucus (CM), because I battled infertility and had loads of info about "down there". It is very normal to have stretchy clear mucus like that around ovulation, because it is the medium that helps the sperm swim to find the egg. There are things people take/eat/drink to increase CM when trying to conceive, such as Robitusin cough syrup, green tea, etc. As long as there is no color or smell, then you have nothing to worry about. Oh, and you can get that kind of CM any time of the month, and multiple times a month, whether you are ovulating or not...it's just the "norm" when you are ovulating. When I drink green tea, I have it for days. Pretty cool, huh? ;)

LOL, hollipop, funny how we learn all that stuff when we have to huh? When I was in my first marriage we too battled infertility (never did concieve, probably a blessing in disguise) but that's where I learned to be in tune with all that my body was doing... ;) I with pretty good accuracy tell you where I am in my cycle from that alone....lmao!
