Today I see my Uro. Guess I will have the pee test done. The pain in my back/sides is a whole lot worse then normal. Also, as soon as I start to pee the pain gets really bad and I'm almost getting sick. Trying to stand afterwards is hard the pain is that bad. I wonder if maybe when I fell a few weeks back it did something? I never did tell him about it. just hoping things go ok this morning. I'm sort of worried now.

I have read that a fall can cause pelvic muscles to go into spasm. Hope you feel better soon!

Once again there is nothing wrong. Nothing showed on the pee test. I'm such stupid person to think that anything could be done for all the pain I have. Just another one of those "live with it" deals. (he didn't say that), I really just don't care anymore now. Whatever happens happens. No more tests of any kind. Won't complain to anyone anymore either. Won't have to come and bother all of you as well. There is no hope for IC and there never will be. I am really dumb to think I could ever have a life again.
Oh, Pottywoman, your post brought tears to my eyes. Please don't stop coming to us here on the boards with your questions and concerns. We would miss you!

I cant tell you how many times I went to my uro thinking he could help me because I had a UTI, and walked out of there feeling stupid because it was IC, not a UTI. We've all been where you are, many, many times.
I dont want you to stop coming to the board.....I want you to stay here, give us your input, and vent whenever you need to. We ALL need help sometimes, and you know I'm a classic example. You are not asking for too much, just some friendship and people that understand and believe in IC. We're in this together, and you're a part of this family.
Don't leave us.

I don't understand any of this anymore. Thought I knew what the IC would be forever but it's been changing lately and there is nothing my poor Uro can do. He did send out my pee to get it tested at the hospital but I doubt that will do any good. I looked up kidney pain with askjeeves.....All the symptoms I have go for kidney/bladder infection. I have the pain in the sides towards the back, goes down to the bladder and I get sharp pains in my right side on and off. The more I walk the worse the pain gets. It feels like inside of my sides are moving which the bladder use to before the heparin started to help. The more my sides hurt the worse the bladder hurts then I start to feel sick. When I pee it feels like my sides are draining out along with the bladder. I don't know what to do anymore. I do know I can't come here and be cheerful. never will and I will always be complaining. I'm just tired of complaining, figuring this out and crying. My life is turning for the worse instead of better. I would even settle for a little bit of a life but I can only take so much pain. I do know my Uro is stumped on this one. I'm sure he will see what he can find until I see him next week.

I sometimes have flank pain on both sides, and sometimes just on one side. My uro told me this was not uncommon, but if it comes to the point that it's severe and you can't cope, it's possible that there are kidney stones hiding out up there. You dont necessarily have to have blood in your urine to have some nesting stones. I've done that too and eventually passed them...ouch!!!
My old uro, who is a wonderful man, basically threw up his hands and said he couldnt help me anymore---that I was by far the worst IC case that he'd ever taken care of, and I was beyond his scope. So I get where you're coming from.
We dont want you to come here and pretend to be in a happy mood. We get it, ok? This disease sucks, and sometimes it's ALL CONSUMING and takes over your life. Things WILL get better for you, and at times things might get worse, too. I've done more than my share of crying and complaining....and every single time these kind people have understood because they have been there, and many still ARE there.
We all get tired of complaining. When my bf calls me, he asks me how my bladder is....not "hi honey, how is your day going?", its "what hurts?". I, too, get sick and tired of saying I'm fine when I'm not just because I dont wanna say how awful I feel...my family understands, but I even get on my OWN nerves because there are many days that I just dont have anything good to say, or anything to contribute except the bare minimum that I MUST do.
Be you, be who you are....thats what we want, and who we care about.

Pain around the flanks can certainly be kidney related. Have you had any tests to determine the condition of your kidneys? Believe it or not pain in the flank can also be caused by uterine problems such as large fibroids, or endometriosis.
I notice on your meds list you dont list ELmiron? Usually IC patients try it to see if it it has any effect. Have you ever considered this?
Sorry you are feeling so bad and hopeless. IC is certainly a cyclical disease. You get worse, then better. Then for no reason worse again for awhile. Hope you get some answers soon.

Sammie

Pottywoman,
At my last appt. I was having severe pain on my left side, radiating to my left hip and buttock. My UroGyn said he thought it might be something with the nerves.
