Can these medicines make you hungry???

Hi all. I was diagnosed with IC in December 2005 and started taking Elmiron. I recently went to see the wonderful Dr. Evans in Greensboro, NC. I am now taking Elmiron, Atarax, and Flomax (found out I have PFD, too). Anyway, I have been on these medications about two weeks, along with regular instills at home every two to three days. And lately, I am absolutely starving!!!! Usually, I go just about all day without eating, eat a nice dinner and maybe an evening snack and that's it. But recently, I am so hungry all the time. Has anyone else experienced this side effect with any of these medicines or heard of such a thing? Any suggestions (my waist line isn't liking this!)?

Yes meds can definitely make you hungry, and also crave sugar, especially elavil, attarax, pain meds.

oh YES!!! I'm eating like a horse since I went on hydroxyzine but it helps my symptoms so I don't want to go off of it.

Oh Yeah, my appitites increased and boy do I crave sugar which is not good with all the antibioitics I have to take. I try to substitute splenda but not sure how bladder friendly that is supposed to be! But as other have said they do really help my symptoms!

Since starting hydroxizine my appetite has tripled and so are my hips...lol.

So glad I saw this post because I was thinking of asking the same thing. I just started taking Atarax on Monday and I can already tell a huge difference in my appetite. The atarax is helping so I wouldn't dare stop taking it but I want to eat non stop, and that's scary. Scary.... for my behind, that seems to be getting wider!!!!!!!
