i'm having my 3rd laparoscopy for endometriosis on monday. when i had my first laparoscopy, i did not have IC or any symptoms of IC. however, after the surgery, i was unable to urinate and had to be cathed a few times before they let me leave with a foley catheter. eventually, i was able to go on my own. when i had my second laparoscopy, they did a cystoscopy as well and distended my bladder. i was able to urinate after that lap, but it took a while. not as long as the first time though.

my question though is how will a lap affect IC? the second one didn't affect it because they did the distension as well, and i think that helped a lot. i actually felt better in the recovery room than i did before the surgery. a LOT better. they're not doing the cystoscopy this time, so no distension either. what should i expect after this lap? or is everyone different?

hope my question isn't too confusing.

Holly,
I think it might depend on where they find the endometriosis and how much they do to remove it from where they find it. Prepare for the worst, just in case, and hope for and count on the best?
Good luck with it.

thanks. i think you're right. location is key. when i had the first lap, there was endo on my bladder, so i wonder if that's why i couldn't urinate. at least this is never boring. right?
