Hey Martha,
About the only thing I collect is dust.. :biglaugh: Besides dust i like to collect refrigerator magnets. Got any from OZ that you dont want send them to me..
A friend of mine's mother collect Beanie Babies..she's got hundreds of them but nowhere to display them---theyre in plastic bags underneath the sofa in her spare room...haha
My former step-mother collects Coca Cola memorabilia. Her kitchen is all Coke stuff--table, chairs, magnets, posters, telephone, dishes, curtains, etc etc etc..

I collect way too many things! antique tins (probably my favorite collection - I have about 100 tins), suns & moons (with faces), wooden boxes (to hide all the junk in), Troll dolls, ... I know there's more - I just can't think of it all right now!

:) hey D did you spot the magnets on my fridge? it used to be a lot fuller, but when I got a new fridge I didn't want to get it scratched, so I just have those on the top part, and most of them are the flat kind!
If I see some nice australian ones with koalas and kangaroos ect, I will get them for you, and post them, but you will have to pm me with your address.
Coca cola is very collectable here, I have a full 300 ml bottle of coke with the America's cup 1987 on it, so I treasure that one, ....I also like to collect old medicine bottles, hubbie has found quite a few for me, sometimes he works at places where they are excavating the soil, and he often finds little treasures.
I'm more into country stuff, old baskets etc, I couldn't imagine having my kitchen full of coke stuff haha, but then again it would be boring if we were all the same!

:) sorry Karma I didn't see your post, I also collect tins, and spoons, and my daughter used to collect trolldolls, I have a cabinet full of stuff, and now I am after another one to fill up, hubbie just shakes his head when I mention this to him, but I know he doesn't really mind, as long as I do the dusting! hehe

Hey Martha, i'd love some Aussie magnets..would be a nice addition on my fridge..:)
My husbands late grandmother used to collect spoons and plates. One whole wall in her kitchen was nothing but. They were from all 50 states plus other parts of the world (from her travels and my husbands family travels). She also had a huge collection of key chains and shot glasses.

:) I love these replies, Donna I think Dalmations are very cute but quite a handful, is that true?, I loved that movie 1001 dalmations with the evil cruella de vill and everybody wanted a dalmation puppy untill they found out that they grow to be very large dogs and need a very large yard.
Holly, I have to be honest and say that I don't know what hopi pottery is, but I know that my curiousity will get the better of me, so I will check it out on the net,
courtenay, I love teddies, but I have stopped collecting as well, no room to put them all, I would love to see a photo of your collection.
Kara, what can I say!! it's a girl thing isn't it, I just bought 2 pairs and will put up a photo later.
Imustpee, I must say I have never seen piano planters, but I have seen the musicboxes, do you find it hard to add to your collection, I mean are piano collectables hard to find??

Our dal*****n is an absolutely adorable 6-year-old female and she is spotted beautifully --- even has one perfect heart on her back. She is a snuggler and definitely not hyper; loves to play with other dogs and is friendly, if a bit shy, with strangers. When she was a puppy, we put treats inside her "kong" toys so now when she wants a treat, she brings us a kong.

:) thanks Donna, I'm sure your dog is lovely, I mentioned the thing about dalmations because after the movie first screened lots of people went out and bought a dalmation, and then when the puppy grew into a fully grown dog they found that the dog didn't suit them, and brought them into shelters, I find that cruel, puppies don't stay puppies forever and some grow quite large, I think people should do a thorough search on a particular dog before buying,

This is a great thread and what an eclectic mix of collectables! Martha, I love the angel. Is it large. I would love one in my garden.
My largest collection is of craft mazagines, I don't know if that counts as collecting but I sure have a lot of them I had to buy a bookshelf just for them.
When I was first married, my husband would give me pigs.. He thought he was being funny but I liked them. They are mostly little pieses but I also have a large wall poster with different breeds.
I also started collecting wine glasses from every vinyard we went to. There were so many that I had to pack them away in the end.
My sister in law collects chooks..not real ones just pictures, pottery etc
Holly, I have to fess up about not knowing what hopi pottery is, please post some pictures.
Donna, I worked for a naturopath once who had a dalmation. Kira, and she was the most loveable dog. She would always come to say goodmorning to me and sit under my desk. Then she would check out my bag to see what I had brought for lunch!
Imustpee, do you own and play a real piano?
Come on everybody post some photos so we all can enjoy your collections.

Ro' I used to collect pigs and wine glasses...what was it you said about "great minds"..haha...also collected matchbooks-still do actually just never remember to take them out of my purse before they get all bent up.
Donna, its nice to know there are friendly dalmations in the world..haha. The only dalmations i've known have been quite hyper and aggressive.

Rosalie, that angel is 43 cm high, but it is not really made for outside, I think the sun would damage it, so I got it on my hall table in the lounge room, I have more angels, but this one is my favorite.

'Pigs and Wine glasses' too! Now that is a bit scary!
Just to let the rest of you know Diana and I seem to share the same things. We were chatting on msn and munching the same nuts! Pretty spooky!
When I was just a little tacker, I used to collect holy picture cards...don't laugh!......... I was very serious then! And being taught by catholic nuns they would give them out as incentives for good work in class , christmas gifts etc. Hahaaha...I still have them!..
I haven't looked at these in years . They bring back such wonderful memories. I was taught buy the most wonderful women whose senses of humour and kindness always inspired me.
There is a Sr Maggie who post on the boards. I've always assumed that she is a nun? Does anybody know her? If she is, she might get a laugh out of these relics!
These were some of my favourites.

Those cards are cool! Even moreso that ya'll kept them for so many years!
Yeah Ro' it is a bit scary about our interests being quite similar.
I started collecing pigs by accident. I happened to mention to someone years ago about how much like pigs and it just took off from there. I've put a stop to it because it was getting a bit rediculous..haha.
The wine glasses were also an accident; saw one I liked, another somewhere else, then somewhere else, etc etc etc..thus a small collection.
The other thing I liked to collect was anything M&M's. Again, that got kind of out of hand so I stopped it. I guess I cant really call myself a collector since I cant stand it when thats all I've got to look at..haha.
I've got a small pig statue (for lack of better words) on my porch. I'll have to take its picture tomorrow.

Diana I'd love to see a picture of your pig. I'll have to dig my little collection out and take a shot. Some of them are a bit chipped thanks to little fingers over the years! And you an call it collecting. It doesn't matter that things get stashed away for a while.
Martha, I nearly fell off my seat when I saw your holy picture collection..we even have the same one. I've got more so I might put them up as well. It must have been just a 'catholic' thing. I love it!
Did the nuns give them to you for the same reasons?

Ned Kelly is a folk hero here is OZ. He stood up against those bloody repressive pommies, the English, who at that time, held the upper hand still here in Australia. His family were Irish immigrants..and we all know how the english felt about the Irish ! Anyway he turned to bushranging and was eventually caught and hanged in the Melbourne gaol..you can still do a tour of the old prison where they have his funeral mask on display.
Ned Kelly stands in history, for the oppressed, ordinary people who stood up against the imperial, brutal, arrogant british. So there...
I was educated by Irish nuns who had little time for the arrogance of the british! Where all government schools displayed a portrait of the queen and sang "god save the queen', we had a portarit of the pope and thumbed our collective noses at british imperialism.
As you possiblely summize, I don't like the english..hmmmm. sorry that I've gotten up on my soap box but Australia's history, as probably the American history, is littered with the harm that they have done. hmmmm...I've had a funny(wierd funny) day and my past lives experiences are bubbling to the surface... that, and the couple of drinks I've had.. :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

I collect Elephants. I have breakable ones, stuffed ones and even wooden ones, bigs one and tiny ones. Right now they are all boxed up as I do not have anywhere to display them. I have been collecting elephants since the middle 70's. I ONLY collect "cute" ones with their trunks up (for good luck) and I will NOT own or purchase any made of ivory, because I would not know if the ivory was from elephants that had been poached or not. So I stay away from the ivory.

I collect Cow Parade cows. (www.cowparade.net)
It started a few years ago when I worked as a website photographer at a collectibles store. All the employees got a gift certificate to the store for xmas. I used mine to buy a lamp and a few cows. When I met my fiance, he kinda got into it too. Every holiday, I get a new cow. For Mother's day, my kitties got me Cow Parade book ends! I must be a good mommy to my kitties for me to get such a gift from them :woohoo:
This year there is a Cow Parade exibit in Madison which is only about 5-6 hrs from where I live. We are hoping to be able to get away for the weekend to check it out. I also love photography so this would put my two hobbies together.
It is very interesting to see what others collect! This is a fun thread.
