I,ve had sore achy joints on my fingers for a year now. I think it's arthritis and went for x-rays a week ago. I'm waiting for my results and would like to know if anybody else has this condition and what you are taking for the pain? I know anti-inflammatories are usually prescribed and I have tried a few without getting any relief. Anti-inflammatories are supposed to irritate my bladder and if I have to take them on a regular basis I will be harming my bladder. This is another painful condition on top of my ic, ibs, restless leg syndrome. For some of us it's darn hard to get through the day, but we have to somehow. I'm very tired of living like this as are so many others. I,m trying to hang in there. LOL.

I swear by MSM. I've been taking it for a month for my bladder, but amazing things have happened as a result. My knees quit hurting when going upstairs, and my synotendonitis is CURED! I've never had this heal without a cortisone shot, but it's true! Also, MSM helps with constipation. I should be the MSM poster girl!
If I had to pick one thing out of my IC remedies to take, it would be my MSM above all else. I take 2000mg/day now.
MSM is a natural sulfur compound (not to be confused with sulfa drugs or sulfites, MSM is nonallergenic). It has the ability to promote healthy flexible cells and relieve pain associated with inflammatory conditions. Another aspect of MSM is that it improves the enzyme flow in the stomach and helps you to be more resistant to allergens. Since food allergies are a possible culprit with IC, this makes MSM a very good choice. Inflammation of the membranes and underlying tissue in the bladder is often aided by MSM. MSM offers relief for these symptoms

Hi Marsi, :) I have talked with you before, :kissing:
I had sore achy fingers. They did tests for arithritis and they ruled that out. Then they did tests for MS and that was ruled out also.
My bladder symptoms of frequency and pain were so bad. I also had edema in my hands and also pins and needles that came only at night. I would wake up to go to the bathroom and noticed the swelling in my hands and feet also.
I would poke my husband to look at them and he saw the edema in them.
I was so sick and sometimes it felt like the flu with severe fatigue. Yet, no matter where I went they told me and my family that "it was just that I was very crazy". This was at a world famous clinic in the middle of the USA. They said that I was crazy and that there was nothing wrong with me. They did that to others too, at that place. They also added after this, you will need to come back and have your bladder removed some day. They never even told me I had IC.
I had to go on a huge search to figure out what it was that was wrong with me. I also did a lot of praying, as I had three young children to raise.
Then I learned from a relative that I had a disease that was in our family for many decades, before I was even born. My family never told me about it, as we asked them many times about our family's medical history. Everyone told us that we had no diseases. Well, I ran straight to my family Dr. and he knew I had just solved the mystery of all my health problems. This was also the cause of my bladder symptoms, and all the other things, cold, exhausted, yeast infections, bladder infections, peeing every 15 minutes, swollen tongue, migraine headaches, lack of co-ordianation of hands and feet, dry eyes, dry skin and dull hair, bursitis in sholder, shortness of breath, cessation of periods, constipation, food allergy, IBS, abdominal distention with flatulence, blurred vision, poor concentration, phobias, depression, and etc...
I made a list of about 75 symptoms, and all those experts could not diagnose what it was that caused me to feel so sick. My thyroid bllood tests were low normal as happens for many many hypothyroid patients.
It makes me so darn mad that they did all those things to me, I consider some of what they are doing and have done for a long long time to be just plain torture. I read about it every day on ICN. In my case they were the ones who where crazy and they did there expensive tortures on me and others and it was all needless. It was needless because I found out that I had a very treatable common illness. They told me, when I went to a world famous clinic in the middle of the US, that I was at God. Not so!
They were cruel and inhumane, and my daughter who is a veterinarian would not treat her stray patients that way, anytime ever! She often stays up all night with her very sick patients and works on them until they are doing well, and she knows she did all she could to help them.
Okay Marsi, I beleive that I told you another time before that the name of my illness that caused all of my enormous pain and suffering is called hypothyroidism. It is called the great pretender because it imitates many diseases. But it is not any of those many diseases because it is the underlying disease that slowly damages a person and slowly destroys a persons life. I will stand on my words forever into eternity! Becareful about this as many go now untreated or poorly treated, who suffer with this life destroying illness.
In my families situation, we inherited this, and I was told by much older family that it has been in our family for more than a century, and most likely several centuries. That part is just what I suspect, from some reading I have done to research further. I also know that my Grandmother, my Mother, two sisters and my children, also have this disease, called hypothyroidism. Some experts say that now 1 in 5 people in the US have a thyroid disease. Some did not inherit it the same as my family has. Some get hypothyroidism by having autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid gland. Also, I married a man who found out that he also has the disease of hypothyroidism, as when he was a small child he lived in a location in the US that dumped radioactive iodine on the population. They were never told, and the real truth came out finally about 5 years ago.
Okay, today I am so much better and my prayers were answered in that, I was able to raise my children. With the right thyroid medications in the proper amount I have come a long way to wellness. I do have some bladder pain and frequency and my Drs. do know the cause of my bladder pains and the achy pains in my swollen hands and feet. They have diagnosed me with a condition caused from untreated hypothyroidism, it is called peripheral neuropathy. Please take the time and do a lot of research and reading to find out if this is the cause of your symptoms, bladder and achy sore hands.
Then go to your good Dr. and ask him if he has missed this in your case, as they did in me.
My family is in the genetic study at the University of Maryland in hopes that they can locate a gene or genes in our DNA that may help with a cure for IC and its many sister diseases. You must have more than one family member with bladder symptoms and live in the US or Canada.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments, and i hope you too can solve the mystery your pain as I have. There is much more that I could tell you about this if you wish to know more.
warm sincere wishes! :woohoo:
