well this is the first time I have tried a heating bad - and it gave me so much relief for a few hours whilst it was on. the pain and spasms were dulled down with the heat!
Now I just have to find some heat patch to wear at work!

I thought it only helped for pain but has really relaxed my bladder and given me some relief whilst it is on! Will try and buy adhesive patches to help me at work - have missed so many days due to flares - have been in a near constant flare since February but now I have the constant need to pee -it doesn't let up at all!

Heat does a lot...it relaxes the nerves and the musscles. Thus when PFD is a part of your symptoms it helps a lot! Nerves can be a part of all of the symptoms so thus heat may be able to make a difference in all IC symtpoms. :grouphug:

I use the sticky heating pads during the day for flares, but the menstrual ones. I forget the company off the top of my head, but its in a red box. At home, I just a regular plug in one and it not only helps, but attracts kitties to boot!

sarilou, I think you might be referring to ThermaCare...? Those are great and work tremendously. They reduce the pain meds I need to take. There are others, too. Wish they were cheaper, but at least they work!

I like the thermacare ones best, but there is some off brand ones that are cheaper to buy that I've tried also that works pretty good on days I have to be up and going in the house or out paying bills or a Dr's visit with is pretty much all the time for me.

Angel you said your urg/freg was up lately. If this is something new that is happening? Have you called your Dr's office and let them check you for a UTI? I know with a flare going on you can't never be sure if its a real UTI or not, but its better safe then sorry. A UTI can show up within just a few hours. I while back I seen where a girl posted she had went to her URO's office in a great deal of pain They ran the UTI test on her and it showed up neg. Well later on that day her pain got so bad she couldn't handle it any longer she was then taken to the E.R. She told them she had been in her Dr's office and she had no UTI. After they ran the test that night she very well had one. Its amazeing how one min. One lab couldn't find it the next another lab was.
They are sneaky and very painful that needs to be caught so it can be treated and you can start feeling better sooner. If a UTI goes un-caught for a peroid of time it can end up going into the kidneys then into the blood stream. If this happen it will take a IV anti on an outpatient basis or if really really bad a hosp. stay for a few days to a weeks time.
I hope this isn't your case, but wanted to make sure you knew how bad one could get if left untreated.
Take it from the UTI queen around here. I have at least one real UTI a month. I've been suffering like this for over a year now :( and know one can find the reason or a cure for me yet.
sending you hugs and prayers for better days ahead.

Thanks for the advice Rhonda - I will hand in a sample tomorrow morning.
I thought I had an infection in February and the culture only showed mixed bacteria but was on antibiotics for 3 weeks - it helped whilst on them but the symptoms kept coming back when finished. the doc said unless another culture comes up with bacteria there is no point taking any more. This was over a week ago ...

I do have new symptoms though like urethral spasms and that constant need to go feeling- got a gynae appointment on the 20th so will tell him then
