I was diagnosed with IC by a NP Doc 6 weeks ago. I was going to the bathroom at least 20x a day and always thought i had UTI'S. Of course my MD sent me away with an antibiotic and said I had the beginnings of a bladder infection. The final straw was when the doctor came in and told me she didn't know what she was going to do with me! I was going in once every other month thinking I had a bladder infection but the test showed nothing.

I finally went to this wonderful NP in Tucson and she put me on N-Acetyl Glucosamine (different than Glucosamine for joints I believe). I have IC and Yeast overgrowth. I'm on a strict IC diet and I feel much better. I still have flare ups but they aren't nearly as intense as before. I don't have the urgency to go as often and i'm not up in the middle of the night needing to go. I was up at least twice, now I don't have to go until I get up :) I'm struggling with what to eat now that I also have Yeast overgrowth. Does anyone have yeast and IC??

I am taking the following:
N-Acetyl Glucosamine
Entrin(Acidophilus)
Calcium Citrate
Evening Primrose Oil
Marshmallow Root (occasionally)
multivitamin
Omega 3 fatty acids
Nystatin (for the Yeast) I just started this 2 weeks ago.

I joined the board yesterday and am very new to this. Thank you for having this available for us and sharing your stories. It is so comforting and I am starting to find some sense of peace with this new diagnosis.

Jackie,
Welcome to the board!!! I am so happy that you received your diagnosis pretty quickly and were helped by the meds so fast!! Many of us here struggle for years to get a diagnosis.
The diet sucks a little, huh? Oh well, I suppose it could be worse for us. Not that getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom is that fun either.
Anyway, welcome to the boards again. They are a lifesaver for me.
Love Sarah
