I know everyone is different but I'm not sure what to tell my work as far as how long I'll be out after my hydro on March 23rd. Any feedback would be great.

I would at least take off the next day for sure. I think looking at the calendar is Friday. For me it takes several days to recover. The last one took a little longer cause I got a really bad UTI afterwards. Good luck :)

True...we are all different. I have had 4 and every time, was different. It ranged from 2-4 weeks with me. Remember...I was a pain patient.

Good luck!

I was out for 3 days and felt pretty bad for those days. The worst thing was the first unination after the test was the worst pain I had ever felt in my life and then after that it got better everytime. After they go in and agrivate everything it hurts really bad to go to the bathroom. Good luck!

3 days after my cysto/hydro, I was back to my previous level of discomfort.

Hope you make a speedy recovery!

Based only on my own experience, take as much time off as you possibly can!

Since this is your first one, I think it would be a good idea to take a week off if you can. You may feel fine before the end of the week, but a little extra rest can't hurt.

I think that is great advice. Each person has such a different experience and it is best to plan ahead so that you don't get even more stressed about having to go back to work sooner than you feel you can or having to take more time off than you had originally planned.

Thanks all for the good information. I'll just see how it goes and take it day to day.

I usually have mine done on a Thursday or Friday and go back to work on Monday without any problems, however the last one I had, it took me about 2 weeks to recover, as on top of everything else I had a UTI, lots of pain, couldn't go to the bathroom, etc. (went back and forth to the doctors and ER for the first 3 days)

I am having my second one done March 8th...I am planning on taking a week off. It is good to rest and not have the stress of work...Good Luck with yours. Let us know how you are feeling!

I guess I'm really different. The day after my procedure I felt like a million bucks. First time in months I was totally pain free. Had one mildly painful first urination and after that it was totally fine. I was in such pain and had such painful urination before it was like a miracle. It gave me back my health and sanity. Sue

I used to only take the next day off, but my last procedure--I could not walk straight for 1 and 1/2 weeks...I developed a terrible infection. Usually taking at least 2 days off after the procedure at least allows me to recover a little. Hang in there. Laura
