My mixer is of heparin, marcaine, water. but different Dr. use Dr. medicine for a mixer. like some Dr use lidocane sp? instead of marcaine, but marcaine has less side effects and last longer. Some Dr will even add Elimron to there installments. to be on the safe side the best thing to do is ask your Dr. what he intends to use.
hope all works out well for you.

My uro is using heparin, lidocaine, sodium bicarb and sterile water. I asked for marcaine because it lasts longer, but they refused.

I'm not sure what my Dr. uses but the last one I had worked wonderfully and lasted quite a while.

I would like to know why certain things never appear together, like elmiron and hyaluronic acid.

Or why a small amount of DMSO (10-20%?)is not added to for absorption.

based on my limited knowledge and my nearly zero experience, i would want to add all kinds of goodies, like the ones above, and i don't know why certain combinations seem to be never used...

According to Dr. Parsons who is taking care of my treatment his cocktail is 4ml of heparin, 4ml of Lido 4% and 4ml od sodium bi-carb. That's what is considered the rescue but it varies based on the tolerance. I can't take elmiron so heparin is similar in chemical make up and same with lido and marcaine. Hope this helps.

Many things interact and can't be used together, and Many doctors differ on their concerns for interactions. My doctor says you don't ever mix lidocaine or marcaine with DMSO because it can be absorbed into your blood stream. One lady on here posted that that combination made her VERY ill and put her in the hospital. Others have done this many times, the ICA even lists some rescue formulas that include it using the word Rimso-50@ which is the trademark name for DMSO.

DMSO can penetrate deeply and tranport other things with it, which can be both good and bad. This very well could be why we don't see it mixed with Elmiron or hyaluronic acid or other things. It is a very big temptation to want to improve the instill meds but don't ever play with them without checking with your doctor!
Example: When I first started suspecting the preservative, I decided to elimnate one piece at a time to see what was bothering me. Starting with the lidocaine. I figured I just do this and thought maybe I cuold just increase the marcaine a little, but thought it best to ask my nurse first. Even she thought nothing of it but went and ask the doctor. His response was that I could leave out the lidocaine to see but "DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, increase the marcaine at all! I later learned that there are some risks with increasing the marcaine that could cause heart problems!
Wendy I hope that helps with your question!
