Hi Everyone,

Not quite sure if this is the right place to post this message?

My husband and I will be relocating to the US with work after the summer and I was wondering how IC will impact my ability to get health insurance?

I was diagnosed last year by a Gynaecologist who also performed a bladder stretch and since then I have not seen any specialists (gynae or urologist) nor am I being treated?

Any advice you could give would be very appreciated

thanks

If you have been diagnosed with IC, it could definitely impact your getting insurance. However, the good news is that even pre-existing conditions are covered under nearly all group insurance plans. When you move here, your husband (or you) should definitely consider the availability of group insurance coverage in making employment decisions.

Thanks Donna,

We will both be moving with our current jobs (pharmaceutical contract research organisations) so hopefully they will have good insurance plans

Many group insurance plans cover pre-existing conditions, especially if you haven't sought treatment or have been treated in the past year.
