Hello,
I have had IC for almost two years now and have been dealing with horrible chronic migraines for almost 5 months now. I have made more urgent care visits in the last 5 months for these migraines than I have in a lifetime it seems. I feel like I am the only person in the world that goes to urgent care for pain management for these migraines because they are so awful. I was in urgent care two days ago and again today. When they come on like this, Demerol seems to be the only thing that helps. Does anyone relate to visiting the urgent care a lot for pain?? :headbang:

Have you consulted a neurologist for treatment/managment for the migraines? There are treatment options available that help to keep migraines at bay.
good luck

Excedrine also works but be careful the give some people rebond headaches worse then what you took it for in the first place.

I have migraines like this. Never had them before my IC became a part of my life, seems it tagged along to. Mine come an go. I can go several months without having one then boom I have the const. for months. For me, mine last for several days and the only thing that will stop them is a shot either from the ER or the urgent care. Even shot of regular migraine meds wont stop them, it has to be pain meds. I dont like getting them cause usually for a day or two after I feel as though i am drunk. So you are not alone. I did go to a neuro once to help with daily meds to stop me from getting them, but I put on like 40 pounds from it so I stopped. Vain I guess but I was miserable from the weight gain, and for me I choose to stop it.

Have you tried the migraine meds like Imitrex or Amerge? Those are what I take. I have also tried Maxalt. I agree that consulting a neurologist sounds like a good idea.Judith

Have you tried Topamax? I take that and a Migraine Vitamin that I get at a pharmacy. (found out that you have to watch what kind you get, as the ones that my husband bought me at the Vitamin Shoppe had some extra ingredients in it that it made my bladder hurt!! so you got to watch out what you buy) Anyway, my neurologist put me on these and I haven't had any problems for the past few months. I don't have migraines, but I do have fluid in the brain.

Yes, I am on 100mg of Topamax. I am kind of skeptical of trying imitrex because I have heard of some of the side effects and I am on like 5 other meds right now. My dad's a pharmacist and he has said that Imitrex and Maxalt are pretty good. What are the side effects that you notice with Imitrex or Maxalt? I will call my neurologist and see if I need to switch medications or add something like Imitrex. I am also on continuous birth control for my endometriosis, which can also be contributing to migraines, but my OBGYN thinks I should stay on continuous BC. Thanks for all of your feedback. I really appreciate it.
