I went my Urg yesterday, and he said I have blood in my urine. I have never had it before, and I am 3 days off my period. I have been feeling ok (knock on wood) for about 3 months. Suddenly today, I am in pain again. I think the stress of hearing about being picked at did me in. The Dr. said he would have to go in the bladder and test it, as well as take xrays. I am so not comfortable with this. I do not want my bladder messed with.
Has anyone else had this done? What were the results?

I'm not sure exactly what test you are talking about. Did he tell you the name of it? If I knew more, then maybe I could help you. It is normal for IC patients to have trace amounts of blood in their urine.

He didn't say the name of the test. Just requires an instrument to go up into the bladder for testing. Just thinking about it, is making me flare
hello,
I always have blood detected in my urine for some reason too. no one has really told me why...let me know if you find out anything. Try to relax as much as you can...good luck!

Maybe the test he is talking about is a cystoscope done in the doctor's office. Most uro's will do this at one point or another when trying to figure out what is wrong with the bladder.
The blood, is it noticable to you or only under the microscope. I ask cause it could be several things. Some with IC to tend to have blood in urine when viewed under the microscope and it will not be noticable to the naked eye. This could also signal an UTI or Kidney infection. Also sometimes when passing a kidney stone you will either see blood visiable or the other way. And there could be other possiblities. Only my opinion on that.
Hope you find out what is wrong.

I always have trace blood in my urine and about +1 under a microscope, had numerous tests and no one knows. Never have had visible blood though. It can come and go also.

I always have large amount of blood, did your doctor do a urinaysis? I got dx with thin basement membrane disease a year ago. It runs in my family. I had to have a kidney biopsy.
