I started Elmiron towards the end of my last period, so this menstrual cycle will actually my first since starting Elmiron.......It is MUCH heavier than usual. I'm starting to get a little freaked out!! :help:

I'm going through a tampon EVERY hour and had to send my DH out for Maxi pads because I'm bleeding so much. This is day 2 and it is atleast TWICE the flow as usual........and twice as Painful! The ultram and vicodin isn't even making a dent in the pain.

I feel stupid calling my doctor because every time I call there and talk with the nurses they patronize me and make me feel like a hypochondriac. I can't even imagine going to the ER claiming to be afraid of a heavy period. They'd probably laugh at me.

Has anyone else experienced this??

I'm losing my mind!! :toilet: :cussing: :headbang: :loco:

Elmiron is a blood thinner, so it makes sense to me that it could make your period heavier. I think my blood was pretty thin to begin with because Elmiron made me bleed bad. I had nose bleeds every day & if I cut myself or something, you know, like a small knife cut - no big deal - it would bleed for like 2 hours! I had to quit taking it because of this. I would still call your doctor if you're freaked out. Definitely tell your doctor at your next appointment if you don't call today!

Call the doctor and ask about it. It doesn't sound horribly serious, but you have a right to question what the med is doing to you. Don't worry about them thinking you're bothering them - that's what they're there for!

True! I should just bug the bejeezus outta them, cripes, I've made his mercedes payment this month and THEN SOME.

I have bled SOO much today, its crazy. I actually feel dizzy. I gave my husband strict orders on what to do/say if I faint........

Ugh.

I really WISH I was one of the lucky ones that responded great to meds and got better. I'm really starting to believe I am cursed and hopeless.

No walk in the park.

Oh......and I'm flaring like crazy!!! And to add insult to injury, my husband and our best friends are drinking an INCREDIBLE 97' vintage of Swanson "Alexis" cabernet savignon.....one of my FAVORITES.....

****sipping my acqua panna water********** huff and PUFF*******

Joy oh joy.

HOW are you my dear?

hugs.

I have been on, and doing well, with Elmiron taken orally for 2 months now. I take 300mg a day (100 mg 3x a day). My only side effect seems to be that my period lasts a bit longer than before I started using Elmiron...this is logical since Elmiron is a blood thinner...also, menstrual blood seems a bit thinner..but nothing to a degree that its causing problems. :)
