Anyone been to South Africa?

I was born there, my entire family was born there. Our ancestors immigrated there from Europe hundreds of years ago. Now I live in the US though. I lived in Pretoria but I've seen Durban, Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Cape Town etc......

That sounds so exciting. You've really seen the world.

I'm planning a trip there later this year and was wondering about traveling......along the roads are there service/rest areas like there are here? And when we're in a game preserve, will they let you just hop out of the jeep and pee in the bush.....or is that unsafe?

I'll ask my mom about that, she knows more about the country than I do. Are you going to Kruger National Park (a game reserve)? What part of South Africa are you going to?

We are still planning so don't know for sure, but will probably be in Johannesburg, Cape Town, a couple of days doing a safari thing, and doing some road travel. We really want to experience as much as we can.

The bathroom availabilty, or lack of, is NOT going to determine where I go, but I just feel more in control if I know what to expect.
