I have 2 cockatiels that keep me company at work - I'm lucky enough to be able to telecommute. In the morning they are pretty loud and talkative. Then they calm down and spend much of the day pretty quiet.

The perk up again in the late afternoon. I just love them.

I've also considered getting finches or a canary. Looking into some day getting an African Grey (I hear they are high maintenance, so I want to be sure first) or an Amazon.

Just wanted to share my bird love and see if there were other bird nerds out there!

Hi there. I have lovebirds. Here is a photo of my pair.
I like cockatiels too but have never owned any.

I had a cockatiel for 10 years. It broke my heart when he died -- he was my little buddy and his favorite song was Van Morrison's "Sweet Thing."

I now have a parrotlet -- very cute, like a tiny parrot, but ooh boy she can bite!

i have a cockatail his name is toby, and he talks a lot in the morning and evening too. Or if he run low on his fav. food he will start up. I really love him he is like one of my children when i'm home alone.

Mine are named Stormy (the girl - a white face) and Apollo (the boy - sunshine yellow and white with a grey saddle across his back and shoulders). We got Apollo from a bird rescue organization. They DEFINITELY let me hear it when they are out of the food they like! They sit and shreak like little kids... CHIRP-CHIRP-CHIRP! (I don't like this food! Bring me more of the other stuff, NOW!)

They're pretty funny though. You can see them trying to figure things out - how to get at things they think look interesting, how to sneak around so I won't see them. They have a play top on their cage so they spend most of the day on that. They're also really funny to watch with new veggies. When I introduce new stuff they sort of walk around eyeing it from different angles, tip toe up to it, nibble a little, step back, look some more, try it again... and so on.

They also let me know when they think I've slept in long enough on the weekends. About an hour after their nomal time to be uncovered an brought out they start doing that "contact call" - where are you? It's time to wake up. Come get us!

Birds are so funny.
