I had my bladder removed Nov. 1. My uro said I would Start to feel better in Feb. I just had an emergency appendectomy and feel like this is going to affect my bladder recovery. They had to put the incision up real high because of my urostomy. Thank God they were able to do it with a laproscope and before it burst.

Oh Carly, so sorry you had to have more surgery, but thank goodness they caught it in time! Have the doctors said it will slow you down? Itend to think it may take a little bit longer to feel like yourself again becuase it was anpother assault on your body. They used to automatically take out appendixes whenever they opened sopmeone up if they were in the area. I know that they no longer do that now, too bad, huh? They took mine out when I had my first urological surgery- the augmentation cystoplasty. You were lucky they could do it with the laproscope! Usually they end up going through your incision, since they could do it laparoscopically it should make it easier to heal. Just be good to your body and take things easy.Feel better soon. Judith

It it so hard to have a MAJOR operation such as bladder removal and it's no doubt hard to recover from that alone. Having another surgery on top of it makes it tough. It may slow you down a bit. Did you ask your doctor if it would effect the healing process of your new diversion? He may want you to take some vitamin or iron supplements or B-12 and or Folic Acid. I had to take Iron, Multitamins, B-12, and Folic Acid after my removal. Just a thought to ask your doc about. Going under anesthesia after having major surgery could be a concern but I've done it too and came out fine in the end. I would talk with your doc. Only he knows how you are progressing and if you are regressing due to the apendectomy. I am so glad it did not burst! That would have really made your recovery go south. Thank god it was done with a laparoscope. I just had emergency gall bladder surgery a few months ago it was rotting. They were able to get in there fast enough before it swelled up to to point of a horizontal incision across my tummy. They I would have ended up with a cross on my whole torso. YUK. At least we don't have that.
Did the surgeon who did your apendectomy say that this would compromise your healing process?

HUGS to YOU CARLY!

Keep Pushing on, you are doing great so far! I know it's not an easy road. We are all here for you Girl!!!!! Our hearts and prayers are with you as you heal and we hope your recovery from both surgeries is speedy and smooth with no more complications. And ask both surgeons about how your recovery will now go and what you can do to help yourself heal better and faster.
