This article was in our newspaper today. Anyone ever heard of it? I made an appt. What the heck. Nothing to lose and my insurance covers PT.

Well, it certainly sounds like it would be worth a try. I wonder if it will work on IC type pain? Certainly, keep us posted!

Beats me. No idea if would work on bladder pain vs. musculo-skeletal pain or not but it's not like I have anything to lose. And he sure said the magic words as to what an IC patient wants to hear "I sure would like the chance to try and help you." Sounds so much nicer than "nothing I can do for you, live with it or go elsewhere." And knowing he's a registered physical therapist gives him more credibility in my eyes. I'll let you know how this option rates.

I had that done when I tried Pelvic Floor therapy and PT. It is the most painful thing I've ever experienced in my life. I'm sure when I have a baby that will change though. I did 2 sets of 16 week therapy sessions. Prrt, EMG, TENS, ultrasound (the waves relax the muscles) and some other stuff i can't remember. It made my IC worse and caused flare ups. I thought it would get better the more treatments I had but it didn't for me. I put myself thru the pain cause I was told it would help in the end. Don't put yourself thru it if it aggravates your IC. Good Luck to you. I hope it works better for you. Drink lots of water after and plan on a nap because working those muscles tires your whole body out. Use a heating pad or warm bath if you feel tense from the PT. Breathing exercies are alos good when you are in pain. i would use those exercises while the Pt was manipulating the muscle. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't have an EMG. I sleep in a TENS and it helps for awhile then loses its effectiveness til I take some time off from it. Can you tell me specifically about Prrt? I didn't get from the article that it was painful. I wouldn't agree to that.

Found another article http://springfield.news-leader.com/lifestyle/health/20050308-Therapistpracti.html This doesn't sound painful but doesn't sound like it might help IC either.

They manually mannipulate your inside muscles that are causing the pain. If you have pain with sex you have a slight idea as to the shape your muscles are in. Ever worked out so much and all you muscles are tender and sore, imagine you poking and manipulating those muscles. I guess it depends on how your muscles in that area are. Mine are really bad. EMG isn't painful, you are jus hooked up by electrodes to measure they activity of the muscles. It graphs how muc you are able to relax those muscles. You think you are relaxing but your still very tense. The TENS unit worked with some pain but my pain was just to much for the TENS unit to distract me from. I had to have it up really high to get just a little relief. Hope this is helpful

Thank you for the explanation. I don't have painful sex. And nothing inside feels sore and I measured normal on the graph previously. But I'm going to be re-evaluated by a new nurse practitioner that moved to our area that specializes in this anyway.
