Hi everyone. Well, I am after reading about Fibromyalgia and I def think , I def KNOW that must be what I have. I wake up sooo achey it feels like Im 100! (I am 36!) I cant squeeze my hands into a fist anymore, they ache so bad. My arms, legs feel like they were crushed by a truck. My hair hurts! (Does that sound weird!) I had my roots dyed this week (luckily I go to a friend that knows how sick I am) and it hurt me when she brushed my hair and when she was putting in the hair dye and rinsing it...I couldnt stop saying OWWW..every strand hurt my scalp. I am achey everywhere and getting frequent headaches. Im constantly freezing, I cant warm up! Now my newest thing Im dealing with is total nauseausness. WHAT IS THAT? Every single day I get nauseas and throw up :toilet: ...its been going on for 1 -2 weeks now. I totally do not believe its from a virus, not at all. It just creeps up on me. I have not changed meds as a matter of fact I am taking less meds than ever. I am only taking pain medicine and nothing else...where I was taking much more than that. I never neeeded to eat before when taking the meds...so if its that why is it suddenly now that I get sick every time I take the meds. EVEN when I eat! OR is this a sympton of something else. My IC was basically doing the "normal" (same old pain) until last night when I started w the severe burning and dribbles of pee...and the pressure , very bad pressure and pain in the very low pelvic area. I took peridium plus last night..so it is still in me now giving me some of that burning relief! I was hospitilized 3 weeks ago for 10 days for retention (never had that before) and badd ic pain...they did a hydro and cystoscopy (again) and other tests and I spent 2 days throwing up in the hospital (lost 10 pounds) and ever since I came home I have not been myself. I had a 102 fever in hospital too...we never really did get a straight answer as to why I ran a fever so many days. I was on 2 antibiotics in hospital when I was running a fever. I have been taking my temp now at home but its only 97.2. I do get very drained throughout the day and now w the nausea all I wanna do is sleep. Is there a cure for fibro or is this something else to suffer with...is there a definitive test for fibro, I was not diagnosed with it BUT I never had the achiness and all that until about 2 months ago and it has never gone away (just gets less when I take pain meds and then when that wears off Im just as achey--I need pain meds to get dressed it is so bad) I see the uro on Feb 23 so do I talk to him about the Fibro .. will he just look at me and think Im NUTS w another problem now? I geuss Im wondering if anyone knows what the nauseau could be from  ...any ideas??? Is there anything that I could have with the IC that causes that??? Thanks for listening... :help:

Have you had your Thyroid checked? Everything your mentioning sounds like what I went through and it turned out to be my thyroid! Nausea can also come from not taking gravol/dramomine before taking some pain meds. I have to take gravol with my pyridium or I have violent nausea. Check it out!

Allyoopa has made a good possible diagnosis. I does sound like it could be your thyroid. Please do eat before you take your pain meds because you can get ulcers in the long run. Your doctor will not think your nuts because there are many people who have more than 1 health problem.

Maybe the pain meds are making you sick? I have many of the same symptoms as you, but not as much pain all over my body. My pain is primarally in my pelvic and low, low back area (like at the top of my but). I have also been suffering from severe retention, and a fever. Last week, it was Urethritis (from cathing for Heparin instills), I took Macrobid, got a little better after about 5-6 days, then as soon as I was done with the Macrobid, my symptoms returned! Severe retention, pain, nausea (I too feel like I have the flu), fever, and my blood pressure is up too. My Uro's not sure what's going on (saw her this morning), says that retention is not usually an IC symptom, nor is the fever, but said maybe my BP is up cause of the pain??? She put me on Cipro, is titrating me off of the Amitriptyline (thinks that MAY be causing the retention), starting me on Hytrin, has done blood work (CBC and kidney function test), and is sending my urine for culture. (They had to cath to get the specimen, my retention is really bad.) I'm sorry I can't offer you any words of wisdom on the possibility of fibromalgia, just wanted to let you know I've got some similar symptoms. I hope you feel better soon, and maybe begin to get some answers at your appt.

You should get your thyroid checked, just to be on the safe side. I have very similar symptoms (IC and FM) to you, including the nausea, and I do not have a problem with my thyroid. I have found that I become nauseated when I do not properly control my pain. It took me WAY too long to figure out the correlation between my pain and the nausea. :headbang: I can control almost every aspect of my pain, except the nausea. I thought that I was the only one who experienced this, and I still may be. :) You might keep a journal for a couple of weeks documenting your pain level, your meds, your food, etc... This could help you to see a pattern that is not currently obvious.
I hope you feel better!

Thank you everyone for your responses..its always GREAT knowing that when things are going wqrong I can come here and be understood..Thank God for that! :grouphug:
2flyingdogs you said you too have same symptoms. Why is this nausea happening all of a sudden. It has been at least a week going on every day!! I notice even when I eat it happens and granted Im not eating as much because of this. Now I was hospitilized weeks ago for urine retention, had another hydro and cystoscopy .. I ended up given NARCAN ion the hosp because my resp dropped to 6 breaths a min (and they said the norm is 12 per min) They think it was due to the pain pump...ever since that last hosp visit I have NOT been the same. I spent 10 days in their. I had many tests done..was on and off foleys, straight cath'd...ende dup w a small pnemonia (from being on my back so long) and given antibiotics and it went away as fast as it came...and I had a 102 fever for many many days there as well and was on 2 antibiotics. I do feel I came home sooner than I should have because the day before I came home I spent that day and 1/2 the day prior vomiting and nasuases...I begged them to remove me from pain pump and they slowly did and then my nauseasness was gone. I got out of bed after spending 9 days in bed there and told them I wanted to go home, I even had a 101 fever the night before going home. The morning I was sent home I had a 99.4 and I acted like I felt perfect (when in fact I was very weak BUT ready to get my booty home where I had my hubby and 32 kids waiting for momma!!) I went through withdrawl because I had decided to STOP many meds because of the experience I had in hospital w my resp rate and the narcan (also needed oxygeny because of this) so I was so afraid that I was combining so many meds what if this happened to me at home, I did NOT wanna drug overdose..I was takin at home (not in hospital) valium, xanax, roxycodone..some days a couple hrs after the roxy Id take a percocet...also at night I would usually take dilaudid .. and a sleeping pill to sleep. WELL, I came home and stopped everything...my body went through withdrawl, shakes, paranoia, swats..BUT I did it and am ONLY taking my roxycodone now! :smile tee I was able to take all that medicine and never got sick to my stomache...now all I take is roxycodone and I end up throwing up...I just dont know if its from that. I do have percoecet apap still too , so this morning I decided instead of taking a ROXY to take a HALF of percocet...I ended up nauseas again! There is just no way this is from the meds, its too weird, that never happened to me?! My fibromyalgia is really bad these couple weeks though too, of course could be because I am taking less meds so I also feel more pain I suppose, but when I had my hair dyed the other day MY HAIR HURT when she did it...thats how painful it is (you prob understand that!)..my arms, hands, legs..even chest area..all hurts! I mean I am 36 and feel like Im 90...I am ALWAYS FREEZING! I wonder what is going on with me...BUT I just had so much blood work done weeks ago when in hospital I would imagine that it would have shown if something ELSE was wrong, including my thyroid. I told my husband I literally feel as though each and every day I am suffering slowly to my death! This is how my life feels..that is so pathetic. I have 3 kids and I cant even clean...I pay someone to do that! I cant even cook, I look to EASY meals and we order in all the time so I dont have to cook. Not only do I feel ashamed because I cant do these things BUT Im SPENDING so much money due to this illness. I wish I could have my health insurance PAY for assistance around here...for the house, and for us to help w meals. (Jesus I need a home health aide...the sad part of that is I WAS A HOME HEALTH AIDE years ago for the elderly, I would clean them, cook and clean their house...Im 36 and feel I need that myself--how pathetic) I geuss Im wondering why is all this happenieng...is it all getting worse? Is the fibromyalgia getting worse. Is my bladder getting worse...? OR is there something else going on and they JUST DONT KNOW IT YET?? :headbang: So, I definatley welcome any and all opinions! Is my body still going through withdrawl and that is why Im so sick..I really feel better as far as that, like Im not shaking and stuff...so I really felt I was over it all. So sad how the body gets used to all the medicines and how it reacts when it is not given them. I personally wasnt ADDICTED to any of them where I felt I "needed" them...it was my body just reacting because I was on most of them for years, except the sleeping pills and dilaudid were really for a couple months being taken.
To 2flyingdogs, I understand what you said about the fact that the pain is causing the nausesness. Do you think that maybe is what Im dealing with and maybe it is because I am NOT on as many meds so Im now getting nauseas from all the pain and aches? Is that how you get? If that is the case, how can I fix this...obviously it kinda dappens your life when your feeling GREEN..bad enough feeling lousy like this BUT now adding nauseasness..yeesh, whats next huh?
Well..Thanks for letting me vent (again) and for those of you that have given me your advise prior to this letter and those that respond after this. I know this was very long and I apologize for that. I didnt plan to write so much but once I got started I geuss I didnt realize how much I needed to vent.
THANKS AGAIN..Thank God for this site!

Sore scalp, always freezing, excessive tiredness and feeling sick, and etc.
These all can be symptoms of hypothyroidism. They all were with me.
My Dr. found my thyroid tests only slightly low, and just for fun tested my husband and discovered that my husbands thyroid tested severly low. My husband's only symptom was feeling tired and having no energy. I was the patient that day so he started my husband and me on thyroid. This result in our blood tests surprised my Dr. so he decided to try some thyroid on me, and eventually over several months those symptoms gradually improved. No tests are ever 100% foolproof. He told me that I didn't look hypo, but then said I definitely looked a great deal better. Huh??? He also added that it was not his fault, that I had been to Drs. all over the world and they missed it. That part was true. But he still should have known better, he was my Dr. for several years, and he had lots of time and my money to figure it all out.
Okay, take a real good look at this link

Hi ChristineW,
You really need to go to a doctor and talk to him/her about EVERYTHING. Make sure that they understand everything that is going on, all of the tests you have already had and the ones that you haven't. I cannot tell you what is going on with you; I can only relate MY own experiences.
My scalp and hair hurt all of the time. I can no longer wear ponytails because of the discomfort. I finally linked my nausea to my pain when I noticed that after I took a pain killer (even Tylenol) my nausea would be reduced. I go through phases of varying intensity. There are times when I hurt so badly that I cannot stand it. During an FM flare I will run a low-grade fever, the glands in my throat will swell, and the pain is so bad that I will throw-up. Usually during an FM flare, my bladder will also flare. There are times when I cannot believe that I can survive the pain; surely this pain will kill me. BUT eventually the flare subsides and suddenly I am thanking God for my "normal" pain. I believe that the flares are somehow associated with my immune system. When I am fighting a cold, UTI, etc. I tend to flare.
I do not have children, but I do work one full-time job and one part-time job, I have a house and a husband and I feel like a complete and total failure 98% of the time. These illnesses are like thieves, they rob us of the lives that we had and more importantly, the ones we anticipated. You HAVE to take it one day at a time and rejoice in your successes! The difficulty that I really have is understanding, truly understanding, that I may not be able to do EVERYTHING that I want to do, but I can do some of the things and that is fantastic!
Please, please, please go to a doctor and tell him/her everything that you have shared here. I truly hope that you feel better soon. Let me know how you are!
Sincerely,
2flyingdogs

I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. I know that you're kinda anti-med right now, but have you tried any over-the-counter meds for nausea? I went through a spell a few years ago where I was throwing up all the time. My doctor's first guess was my thyroid, but the test came back fine. It ended up being my nerves that were making me so sick. You definitely should call your doctor & tell them what's going on. I don't know about the withdrawal - you should tell your doctor that you stopped taking your meds. They can really mess you up if you stop taking them all of a sudden. Some meds you can quit like that, but others can cause serious problems if you don't slowly ween yourself off of them. I hope you start feeling better & find out what's wrong.
