Are any of you southern folks missing your BBQ like I am?
The last time I had it I had to take my pain meds for 3 days.
Oh that delicious NC BBQ...

Do you like Eastern NC or Western (Lexington style) NC barbeque? ;)
I'd kill for either right now... I also like Memphis style a LOT. Lived there for 3 years and enjoyed it :)

I love the vinegar kind....eastern I think? Oh...ya had to go and make my mouth water! I love both kinds of NC BBQ!! Especially the little hole in the wall places that look like they should be condemned! LOL They always have the BEST food!
YUM!
I splurge and eat BBQ sometimes...and pay for it later!

I was raised on Western(Fuzzy's in Madison) but now live in Raleigh and love Eastern just as well. If I had to pick, I would pick Western.
I had some ribs at BB Kings in Memphis(before I was diagnosed) and they were delicious.
I love ALL the BBQ! Thanks for sharing my cravings :)

sniff sniff! I think I feel tears coming on . . . I miss my barbecue too!!! My favorite is the yummy ribs that I got to savor only one time at the Rendevous on Beale Street -Memphis
It's sometimes hard to imagine that I'll never be able to eat so many yummy things again. Heck I haven't had chocolate in over a year now and I was the world's worst chocoholic! Oh well. . . . I just found out that my cholesterol is high so even if my IC totally goes into remission I won't be eating barbecue again.

:) I like all kinds of BBQ. The hole in the wall places are really good -- there was this one place in Memphis that was in the poorest neighborhood and looked like the health dept was going to shut it down. It was across from this place I called "The Scariest Liquor Store on Earth" because the liquor store was all barred up, and if you went in there you had to order the liquor through a bullet proof glass wall and they would put it through the drawer when you paid. Yeesh.
Anyway, I at first refused to try it, but my husband (who was, at that time, my boyfriend) announced he was going in there and bringing food back to the apartment I was living in at the time. Hubby came back and said they were thrilled to see him. The food was awesome and we ended up going back many a time. Yeah, I eventually went in there too :) -- and then I was diagnosed :(
Janie, the Rendezvous is great. I used to like Corky's too. :)
Here, just outside of Winston-Salem, is a place called Prissy Polly's -- it's in a town called Kernersville, and it was just renovated so it doesn't look dumpy, but the food's great. They have both Eastern and Western (and yes, the Eastern is the vinegar kind, Sandy) and it's a yummy. I splurged and ate it once with our realtor when we were house hunting :)

Thanks A LOT!!! :ignore:
Ribs are my favorite food on the planet, even though I have to have them home made to keep them "ooey gooey", but not spicey or peppery...long time GI issues...then IC! Now it's ulcerative colitis, and food in general doesn't work...makes the IC diet seem real easy!
But-we just got back from Whole Foods and bought just about everything, and now I want to get in the car to go back for some RIBS!!!!! :help:
I mean, I am seriously craving ribs now!!!! And it is likely I can't eat them anyway! I think Rib posts should be banned! :biglaugh:
Not exactly true southern barbeque, but this MA gal wants RIBS NOW!!!!!!

Not to bring up a dirty word or bad/good memories, however I just made some NC style bbq this past Sunday...It looks like i'm fortunate to be able to eat it w/o any consequences.
Sorry ya'll...
