View Full Version : Too much fiber??
You always hear that high fiber is good for you. The other day I bought a cereal callled "High Fiber O's" from Trader Joe's grocery store. I think it may be responsible for a flare in vular/vaginal pain and IC symptoms. Does this happen to anyone else when you have too much fiber? Is there such a thing as too much fiber?

Too much fiber can make you more gassy, which definetly causes me to flare. They say to work up to larger amounts of fiber. It could be an ingredient in the cerial too. Hope this helps.

Just a tip: We had a nutritionist speak to us last evening at our Support Group, and she advised us to drink water, water, and more water when we add extra fiber, to avoid gas and intestinal problems. (Plus it dilutes all the nasties passing through our damaged bladder linings!) Good luck!
Thanks for all the replies! I didn't eat that cereal this morning, and my symptoms seem less.

I have been on high fiber diet since I was 18. The only thing that makes me gassy is Psyllium (fibercon), and for some reason the powdered fibers, I take wal mart brand citrucel tablets every day(I take 6 in the am, 6 in the pm), and it keeps me flowing...I make oatmeal chocolate chip cookies when I'm having a chocolate craving so it'll go through me smooth! If I have cheese I have a supplement that I take & it goes through me like I didn't even eat it it's really nice!! It took me many, many years but since I've finally got my hormones balanced I can eat a lot more than I used to it's really nice:-) Feel free to PM or e-mail me with questions!
