Flaring like crazy recently. I put ice on my back as that was in spasms also. It felt like labor pains. After awhile the ice on my back was actually able to take away the IC pain awhile. I was told to only use ice for 20 minutes.
Anyone else experience this?

I am a bit confussed. Now if your back pain was from something else it may be in part that you nummed the nerves of your bladder a bit too. Low back pain is not an uncommon symptom of IC. I used to put heat on one side and cold on the other and althernate back and forth...I found it helped quite a bit.

Yes, I have this too. Never thought about putting on my back. I massage my lower back in a small circle pushing upwards while laying on my left side hugging a big fat pillow. Plus I bend my right leg up. It seems to help to take off the pressure in my back and bladder. Pain lately has been going down my legs.

My uterus is tilted back, so sometimes I feel low back pain/pressure. I just curl up in my pillows and heating pad!

Feel better!

Hi, I also get back pain, and down into the top of my legs, it has been flaring up this weekend, and I use the thermacare heating pads and it really helps me out. I also have to sleep on one side with my other leg bent, that also helps me out a lot, it took me a while to figure out the best way for me to handle the pain, IC pain is such a mystery at times I feel, Iris. :flower:

Me too! Mine is also bladder pain, flank pain that wraps around my sides and goes to and thru my lower back and radiates to my hips and thighs. I hate this disease! It is so hard, b/c when I am flaring, I STILL cant tell the difference between an IC flare and a kidney infection, b/c I have the same symptoms during both. Even the nausea and vomiting, b/c when my pain is extreme, it makes me throw up. So I have to be checked everytime! I'm thinking about getting some of those home urine test strips, but scared they might not be reliable. I had right at 10 true infections last year, so I get roughly the same numbers of infections and flares per year. So basically, I hurt all the freakin time! ARghh!! But they just now put me on daily macrobid, so hopefully this will effect a change for the better! Wishing you all pain free days and sleep-filled nights!---AMY
