I'm considering a zipbag with an ice cube, surrounded by cotton, custom sewn into a pair of undies. If its not available, I might be first.

Just rinsed with cold water. Have an appointment with an urologist that specializes in women and ic. I have a good doctor but I want another opinion. This is hell.

extrasharp - this is going to sound goofy, but Bed Bath and Beyond had this really small ice packs (with blue gel inside) in the shape of a kitty, dog and nemo. They're flat and about as round as a baseball. I thought it was a perfect size to put down south. I don't know how you feel about sticking a dog or cat in your underwear, but perhaps it's just what you're looking for.

LOL Thank you. I have plenty of kitty hair so I wouldn't feel funny at all.

Now don't laugh ....

But I came up with something that might do the trick. Take 2 pair of light cotton panties and put one pair inside the other and (hopefully you can run a sewing machine or have someone who will do it for you) stitch them together just around the leg openings. This leaves you a kind of channel for insertion of one of your Nemos or Cats .... or possibly something else you have kept in the freezer in a ziploc bag. If you're home, you don't need to have them sewn together, BUT just don't drop a Nemo as you walk across the bosses office!! :biglaugh:

OK ....nutty eh? But you'd be surprised at the strange stuff I think up when I can't sleep at night!!!

That makes me wonder....would male underwear with the sleeve work?

Hi Katrina,

My problem is my DH doesn't wear that kind of undies.... so I had to work with my own drawers! But it's a great idea ..... and only one pair is needed that way!!

This reminds me of something I would like to invent. I want a container of some kind I can use to pee into when I am somewhere far from a restroom, like the dressing room. I don't know what it is about dressing rooms, but I always feel like I am in so much pain because I have to go. I thought of a small container with an absorbant sponge of some kind, or material inside that could be disposable. Am I crazy or what? I feel like taking an empty coke cup and cover in there, the only problem is that I would have to take it out and how would I dispose of it??? What I come up with??

Well, you know how your mom always used to say wear clean underwear in case you got in an accident? What do you think the fireman would say if you had a kitty, dog, or nemo in your underpants?
Ok, I'm done... :-)

Another suggestion I read on here one time was freezing a bottle of water to hold between your legs. I think that was for car trips. Might be a little more conspicuous in an office!

I think if I were to put an ice pack anywhere on my body and leave it there for more than a few minutes, it would become very painful.

The funny thing is, Donna that it would be true for me too .... BUT when I'm in really severe pain ... it works. I found that out when my shoulder was so bad (severed tendon) the only thing that helped was an ice pack when I was trying to get some sleep. Of course I used one of those freezer things that was intended for use on the body ...and would warm up so I didn't get frostbite if I fell asleep with it on me. I have always felt it was like the analogy of the medicine that tasted sooooo bad that if you took it ....you knew you were really sick!!
Oh wow ....even the cold water squirt bottle used after I pee was something I had to learn to love! WheW!!! :biglaugh:

I don't know how well this will work. The crystals seem to be like the clear cat litter type, and those DO work well. I have used the ones that are basically a funnel with a one way stopper, travel female urinals. This potty in a bag looks a little easier to carry around with you though.
The company that this link is from is a wonderful one and they have great clothes as well :)

It is by Ace brand and it's called Ace Reusable Cold Compress. The outside of it is made with "exclusive soft touch fabric".
IT IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
The only down fall is that it doesn't stay cold very long, but long enough to get a little relief. It's very thin and you can just place in your underwear and with your underwear and pants it should stay put, you may have to adjust once in a while. I have to put mine back in the freezer now, but I've been walking around at work with it tucked right in my underwear and no one could tell and it felt so good on my abdomen.
If you go to www.walgreens.com and in the search field type "Ace Cold Compress" it will pull it up and it should be the only result. Hey at a price of $6.49 you can't beat it!

I hope this helps!!!!! :grouphug:

Windwalker- you will love it!! The material that it's made from is awesome, you know how most ice packs "sweat" like a water bottle or something? This one does does not sweat at all!! And I'm thinking that for people with vulvadynia, like me you can probably put it in your underwear like a pad. I am going to buy several more of these and keep them in the cooler when we go on long trips, it would be perfect! Let me know how you like it, you can place it directly on skin, no towel or anything.

Okay.... I'll quit going on and on about an ice pack LOL! But you all know how it is when we find something to ease our pain a bit, it's just those little things that bring us a little hope. :grouphug:

I don't know if any of you have had kids; but at the hospital they give you these maxi-pads that contain an ice-pack in it of sorts. I think that you can find them on pharmaceutical websites or you can ask your local hospital or ob/gyn where you can get them. They seem like the easiest thing to use on the outside.

Only your healthcare provider can determine if the above suggestion is an appropriate treatment options for you; this is just a suggestion that you can discuss with him/her.
