I was just prescribed urethral suppositories for my IC flare. I haven't tried them yet as I'm terrified. Has anyone heard of them or tried them???

I used urethral suppositories some years ago. Whether they help depends on what is in the suppositories. They can be very effective for some people.

Sending healing thoughts,
Donna

Can anyone tell more about these urethral suppositories?? I am very curious. It seems so logical that one could place medication themselves right where they need it! What are they made of? Are they currently being manufactured? I had heard of steroid ones some years ago but the uro said they weren't available at all anymore.

Thanks, Diana.

I tried it and it was one of the worst experiences of my life! It burned SO BADLY and caused excruciating pain for hours. It felt like I was peeing knives and hurt constantly when I wasn't peeing too. It has been about 36 hours now and I'm better but I don't think I'll be back to where I was before for quite a while, which wasn't the best place to begin with. Maybe I just had an unusual or allergic reaction, but I really must caution anyone from doing this!!!

It was supposed to have 3 things in it: an anesthetic that was supposed to numb any pain within 60 seconds - NOT!, an antibiotic, and an anti-inflammatory. It sounded like a good idea but it was a nightmare for me.
