Woo Hoo! I will have to go find out what's kept you from us...LOL I am hoping it has something to do with being tethered to a porch with a drink blender in one hand and a drink in the other....LMAO!!!!

ick!..theres that four letter word again--SNOW! We've been lucky as its been in the 50's and 60's here until this week; it was in the upper 40's today and is suppose to stay that way for the rest of the week/weekend. I'm ready for the hot and humid days of summer!

You can have them! ALL of them! ...... every last stinky, sweaty, can't sleep, one of 'em!
Just give me some of that snow!

LOL, I agree to an extent Rosalie!! I do love the air conditioner though, makes the 80 degree nights sometimes bareable. LMAO!
I'd prefer nice mid-70's, that's my fave temp..... But unfortunately it was 5 degrees last night, and not much warmer yet today...blech.... erm, I mean brrrrrrr

:) I agree with Rosalie, you can all have this bloody heat, Ive had a gutfull of it, bring on winter, it cannot get here soon enough, yippee thank God it's the last month of summer here, things might start to cool down a bit.
I feel so sorry for my hubbie too, he is outside in the full sun for 8 hours a day, waterproofing, he is buggered when he gets home from work, the heat is getting to him too.
Rosalie he comes from Mount Isa, Queensland so he is used to the heat, but he said this year is a real stinker.
So come on girls blow some snow our way, we will appreciate it!
Martha :)

We had a beautiful day today. Blue skies and 21C. My kind of weather.
Plus I had lunch with the girlfriends. A joint birthday celebration for two of them.
Oh yum! Poached salmon and salad followed by raspberry swirl, white mud, cake with raspberry coulis and cream. And loads of silly girl talk. We sorted out a few of the worlds problems while we were at it too!

Oh I love silly girl talk...haven't seen any of mine in ages, another problem with winter here, no one wants to leave their house, lol.....

winter stinks! we're in the process of dodging the big nor'easter thats hitting the east coast. i've got my fingers crossed that we only get the rain and a few flurries..

:) I live in a area what is tropical, we only get about 3 months of cold weather, but no frost, no snow, the only wet thing we get here is rain and sometimes hail, last time we got hail close to where I live, it was the size of tennis balls, it did some major damage as you can imagine.
I really need a break from the weather we are having now, even if the temps are lower, the humidity is way up, :headbang: I'm fed up.

No frost, no snow...wow.... :) Reminds me of when my girlfriend moved to Florida from here, at first it was great, but then she missed the seasons, and wearing sweaters etc....

Martha, I hate the humidity too! We don't usually get to much of it in Melbourne...its usually a dry heat (like out of a blast furnace!), but we have had a fair bit of humidity this year. Everything sticks to you and when you combine it with hot flushes yuck!
I remember we had this transcontinental conversation last year about the weather! I guess we are just never satisfied! Haahaaahaa! Guess its just the extremes that make us cranky?

Well the nor'easter missed us here on the eastern seaboard of VA..wooooohoooo!!!..hahaha...we got some rain and some minor snow showers (nothing to speak of) and some wind...our neighbors all around us got all the snow for us..yay!

We have even seen images of snow storms and the trouble in some part sof the US on telly. I hope everyone over there is OK? Do you ever get snow bound and unable to get out of the house?
Any one watching the Winter Olympics? I watched our Aussie girl come fifth in the snowboarding last night. We was robbed! :biglaugh: Nah..only joking!

Seems the US Women are dominating the snowboarding huh?--atleast thats what I heard..haha..I cant just sit and watch the Olympics for some reason; so I try to catch the updates on the news.
The cities that usually get snowed in are the ones that arent used to getting snow in the first place. I'm sure Tracey very rarely actually gets snowed in because Michigan is always getting snow and are equipped to clear the roads/keep the roads clear for commuters. The majority of the areas that got the snowfall this past weekend are used to getting snow as well, though some areas really got pounded....Now here in the part of Virginia (southeastern most part of the state right on the Atlantic Ocean)that I'm in is a whole 'nother story. We never get snow so are not prepared for it when it does occasionally happen. We can be snowed in with as little as an inch, believe it or not. An hour northwest of where I'm at get snow quite frequently--its weird to know it can be snowing hard there and clear blue skies and decent temps here. Even in Williamsburg (45 minutes north of me) can get snow and we not get so much as a flake. Thank goodness for coastal areas!..haha

I was just excited that we even made it to the final run. While we do have snowfields in Oz, we are generally known for other sports. Our most famous winter olympic event was at the last one where our skater Stephen Bradbury won gold ( our first and only) when everyone else in the field fell over!
I love watching the figure skating, actually I would sit and watch everything if the time difference wasn't a factor.

:) I love figure skating, I could watch that all day,
Martha :)

Yep, we are pretty used to it. I can only remember a couple times when I was a kid that we got "snowed-in", and actually was kind of fun, ;) You gotta have 4-wheel drive up here, or at least a front-wheel drive vehicle, it's amazing what my little Pontiac Grand Am would go through!!! LOL
I can't sit and watch the Olympic stuff either, but I do like the figure skating, they make it look so dang easy! Myself and ice skates, are a bad bad combination, lol. It's pretty ugly when "we" get together!!!! LMAO!

hey, i got an idea--lets go ice skating
Rosalie
02-15-2006, 11:53 PM
:biglaugh: Is that before or after we go surfing? :biglaugh:
traceann
02-16-2006, 03:23 AM
Well, cripes if we are going to drag me iceskating, we might as well start with the surfing, never mind my somewhat fear of the water...well, actually it's not the water itself, it's whats UNDER the water that scares me, hence the reason I like pools....but I am afraid of the drain thing at the bottom - I avoid that at all costs...lmao!!!
We are now in the Winter Storm Warning until Friday 6p.m, and as of last night on the news we are in the 15-20 inch range.....yippy. Maybe I'll get a snow day from work tomorrow!!! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Rosalie

How on earth do you keep warm in weather like that! Your fuel bills must be very high? Do you have to wait till it melts or do you dig your way out :hmm:
What about your gardens? I assume that everything is deciduous and happy to hibernate in winter.
Sorry, but you ain't getting this old lady on skates..And I'm with you on the noahs! Scary scary creatures!

Yeah, the months of Dec,Jan and Feb are usually pretty high, this month it was 174.00 dollars, blech!!!
I have lots of perennials that over winter, have to get pretty hardy plants for that, but most herbs etc are great. Lots of plants do really well. Then I supplement with annuals in the summer/spring for quick color etc.....
