I thought as our ceramics thread was turning into an Astrology thread, that I would start one up.
Knowing only a little bit about astrology I am still fascinated by it. I used to work for a naturopath whose second study was astrology and she would often give me information. She had this wonderful computer program which with the right data could give daily readings.
Now I am unable to get my exact birthtime so she couldn't give me my readings but she did for my daughter one day. It was uncanny how precise it was, to the point where Hillz was able to sort out a problem that had been predicted.
My sister once had a book which combined the zodiac with the Chinese signs. I am a Scorpio Dragon. If Hillz had been born 10 days later she would have been one too. As it is we have three dragons in the house.
The other topic I find really interesting is interaction between the signs. In our home we have the scorp flying off with grand ideas that need to be done NOW NOW NOW and the Taurean (David) researching and making lists and wanting to wait while he thinks about it ! Argh!!! just writing it down makes me edgy. :biglaugh:
We also have a Libran -Hilary and a Cancerian - Campbell.
How does the interplay work out at your place?
And Martha, do you have any astrology sites for information?

:) Rosalie, you must have been reading my mind, I was going to put up a new thread about astrology, but of course as always I forget where the heck I am, and get carried away with whatever subject we are talking about.
I have to admit, I am a bit like David, I am a procrastinater, I think about stuff, before I go ahead with anything, It may sound boring but that's just me,
My daughter on the other hand who is an aries goes into everything full force, but regrets it a lot of the time, because things don't work out the way she wanted it to, simply because she didn't give it enough thought, she also gets bored very easily, flitters from one project to another, and never finishing anything, it annoys the heck out of me, but that's the way she is, that's the thing about starsigns, some things you cannot change, I am sure I have a few traits that annoy her too, as a matter of fact I know I do.
My son is a gemini, the jeckyl and hyde of the zodiac, never know what to expect with him, he can be grumpy one minute, and on top of the world the next, very confusing, he also procrastinates about things a long time, but once he makes up his mind there is no way of changing it.
My hubby's sign gets more confusing, he is right on the curb of gemini/cancer, and because the first 7 days get carried over to the next sign he has quite a bit of characteristics of both signs.
Oh and I forgot to say my own starsign, it's Cancerian for those who don't know.
Martha
ps Rosalie, I used to have a few sites about astrology, lost them all because of computer crashes, let me see what I can dig up when I get the chance, his holiness is still in bed, but you know what happens once he gets out don't you?? he takes over the bloody computer!, oh I want my own! :)

I don't really know if astrology is real or not, but I can tell you that when I was living in Los Angeles I had my complete reading done... I know I'm a Taurus with Gemini rising, and as far as Chinese astrology goes, I was born in the year of the Tiger. Anybody have any input on what that means? ;)

:) Jen, The chinese horoscope and the normal horoscope we are used to are totally different, because the chinese bases theirs on the year you were born, and the usual horoscope on the month you were born in.
You are a taurus with gemini rising, which means you have predominantly taurus traits with some gemini thrown in. My mum was a taurus, born on the 28th of april, taurus has the one trait that stands out I think, and that is that they are stubborn, actually I think they invented the word haha, but really I think that when it comes down to ones horoscope and their personalities I find a lot of the times its true, I have also guessed some ones sign a couple of times just by talking to them for a while.
Kara for instance who posted after you said that she is a capricorn, and one of their traits is that capricorns are usually perfectionist.
I am a cancerian myself, and my worst trait is making mountains out of molehills, I tend to see things worse than what they are, and it is typical of most cancerians.

I have programs that do charts. I've been doing Astrology for many years. The Sun sign is a good place to start to know yourself, but the rising sign is ,also very important. Reading your horoscope in the newspaper is what we call fortune cookie astrology,(you can get the same results out of a fortune cookie). The whole chart is important, as to where all the planets lie, but you do have to know your birth time. A few minutes will change a chart a year or more. Hugs, Kathi

Oh I love this thread! I found you guys!! (ok, I want a wombat please...) LOL. Yep, I can see the majority of Pisces in me, but my Libran comes out in my "mediation" skills, I have always been the "go-between" for people, if my friends boyfriends wanted advice on what to do etc, they called me...uhg. Always managed to give a fair representation and express it without ruffling too many feathers! LOL
Hmmm, my Scorpio right now is my "list", so I think that states he's being the worst part of the Scorpion...lol. But we really do well together, our signs work nicely. I had a Virgo and he was just to "boring" sorry Virgoans! LOL He was to the point of annoying, apparently I am a drama queen and don't want any one too easy....
I have also found that events have their own star signs, like when a relationship starts etc. Very interesting....

LOL...I am indeed a perfectionist, but I think I have a gemini rising, which adds to my quirkyness! :) I do have a full reading based on my time and place of birth around here somewhere, I should go find it. I also had my friend run charts on my children......they were amazingly accurate.
Come to think about it, there may have been something in there about "health issues"
Ugh!
I didn't know Cancers made mountains out of molehills?? Cute! I think my Gemini husband is quite the "drama king"
I've found Pisces to be extremely caring and sensitive people...super compassionate!
Most of my close friends are Taurus, Aries and Scorpios....they have wicked fun sense of humors!! I need to get out and meet some other signs! :)

:) Kara, indeed Pisces are very compasionate and caring people, I know quite a few of them, so are cancerians, and because I have pisces rising I have double the emotions, I don't like it most times and quite often complain that I wish I was born a tougher starsign.
Tracey, you know the scales represents'' balance'' that's what libra stands for, they want to balance things out, I have a friend who is libra, and 2 sisters in law , one of them I want to strangle at the moment, because I found with her (and that could be due to another sign rising) she is very two-faced, ahum sorry don't mean to offend anyone, but there are definately signs out there that don't seem to match with their characteristics, there is always the odd one out, and I think she is one of them.
Kathi, you are so right, it all depends on a lot of things, where the planets lie, your time of birth etc, I had mine done so I know I am a cancerian with pisces rising, lucky I still had the chance to ask what time I was born, it would be too late now, with both my parents gone.\
Kathi, where did you buy those charts if you don't mind me asking?
I would be very interested to get some myself, at the moment I just got books.

The two sites that sell the software that I know of are:www.astrosoftware.com &
www.astrologysoftware.com The programs are quite expensive, go & see if you like any of them. Kathi

I can't find my birth time!!! I born in a tiny maternity hospital which has been gone for forty years. I tried to track them dowm through government office but was told such details would not have been kept.
I have heard about a program that can still do an accurate chart matching up important dates in your life.I think you have to have a certain number of dates to do this. Has anyone heard of this program?
I do have a program that can do your chart with the birthtime but I don't have a clue how to read it.
Does anyone know of a particular book or site (here you go Martha) that can explain the basics simply so I can get started?

:) Rosalie, I see what I can find, I think in most cases you would still need a accurate birth time, have you thought of maybe asking your siblings? if they are older then you they may know, it's just a thought, but I will try to find something for you.
Kathi, thanks very much for those sites you posted, I will have a look when I get some time, I better get some housework done first, I'm still in my pj's and it's already 10.15 am here in oz.

I thought PJs were working clothes!
I have asked my older brothers but they can't remember anything and my sister was only two. My mothers sister has also passed away. My aunt's 80th (mums cousin) birthday bash is next week so I quiz as many there as possible.

I swear I heard PJ's were indeed work clothes.... ;)
Oh yes, that is me - must balance everything out, can't have two people at odds, I must try to get them back on track, ugh. It's tiresome sometimes...so's being a Pisces, I can be soft hearted to the point where I get hurt most times....grrrrrr. Me the mediator...
As for my Scorpio - still on my "list". :cussing:

Rosalie it is called a rectification chart. I'm not sure how good they are. Write to your state capitol Vital Statistics Department, they should have your time. Kathi

We don't have a "Vital Statistics Dept" however, some years ago I contacted the appropriate government dept and was told that , although they keep them now, time of birth just wasn't a statistic that was recorded.

Well, I went to my aunt's 80th birthday bash on saturday.
"Auntie Marie, you are my last hope in finding out my birth time. Do you remember?"
Inserting much laughing here........."Hahhahhhaaaahaaahahhhaaa!" She says. She can't even remember her own childrens.
One cousin suggested the newspaper birth notices and I will check but, firstly I doubt that birth times would be in the notices and secondly, that my parents would have been able to afford newspaper notices or even wanted to. That sort of thing wasn't as popular in those days.I got my full birth extract a few years ago and that doesn't have it either!
My elder sister has her time! "How on earth did you get that?" I asked.
"Simple, I just asked Mum" Well now , why didn't I think of that 15years ago? :biglaugh:
I always thought it was 4.00pm but the naturopath that I worked for did a chart with the time and reckoned it couldn't have been right. She said my personallity just didn't fit. :hmm:
However, the more I think about it, who is to say she REALLY knew me anyway? After all, I left because we had too many disagreements on how to run an office and invoice system!

:) Oh no, how the heck are you going to find out now, I found this piece on one of the sites, Finding Your Birth Time
Finding the correct birth time is vital to an accurate astrology chart but many people don’t know their birth time. The first step is to exhaust all possibilities * ask a living relative, search for baby records, phone the hospital or phone the local library if your hospital has since closed. If you still can’t discover your time of birth then you will need to partake in a special process called “Rectification”. This is a complex process during which the astrology will ask you for major life events, timed as closely as possible to a day. The astrologer will then undertake a complex procedure of matching dates to astrological events with the view to finding a time for you. Once you have a ‘rectified’ chart by a qualified astrologer then you are able to start your astrological journey.
I'm at a loss at what to do next, most insist you need your accurate time of birth, does anyone have any ideas???
Martha :)

Oh my, Martha, just reading that made me mentally tired...I have no ideas at all!! ARGH! There's gotta be something!?!
Rosalie

If, as I really believe, we are here to learn a particular lesson, then perhaps mine is to do it without astrological help. My mum used to say about 'hitting your head against a brick wall'? "You want it to stop hurting?...then stop hitting!"
I'll still look for answers as I go along but theres no point in my getting upset about it anymore. I know I fit in with the basic Scorpio characteristics and with those of the dragon, so that my have to suffice.
