HI Guys, I am off to yet another Urogyno. in March & want to go in there with all the reading material I can. She is apparently is quiet up ther with IC, but I still want to let her know I have been doing my resarch on other treatments, as I know that she is all for the botox thing & I don't really know if I want to go down that road just yet.
I have had the DMSO several times but it didn't do anything but cause more pain in the end.
I have been reading alot about these resuce installs, & from what I have heard them seem to work well for most???? could someone give me some of the different types of drugs that are in them? What symptoms are they used for & do most of you do them at home or in the DR"s office? What type of caths do you use? And how often do you do them?
Any info would be great
Thanks Andrea :grouphug:

If you go into our Patient's Handbook on this site you can read & copy all about the different treatments. I hope this is the dr that will give you the relief that you deserve. Hugs, Kathi

my rescue treatments if of heparin, marcaine, and sterile water. I use a latex free cath. I also do these up to three to four times a day as needed at home, but one must work there self up to that level with there Dr's approval.
thanks the these treatments I was in remission for eighteen months and pray to God I will see it again soon.

I get these done when I am having pain in my bladder and everywhere else. All of my pain originates from my bladder and radiates from there. It causes my IBS, and Fibro to act up and manifests in bladder tenderness and sorerness (like I am bruised or have been punched in the stomach) then I have freq bladder spasms that feels like a hot knife jabbing in and out quickly. These muscles tense up in preparation for the next stabbing and cause my side, back and leg muscles to ache. My treatments are done in drs office. He uses an infant feeding tube for the cathater, as it is the smallest thing we can find that will do the job. I use topical Lidocaine and ice to numb first. I did these initally 2x week for 16 weeks, then about 3 times in a 2 week period. Then the oral Elmiron was supposed to kick in, but I dont think it ever has, b/c I still get these about 1x every 2 weeks and sometimes 2x a week still. They help me enormously. My bladder is better before I leave the exam room but it takes the rest of my body a while to realize they can get out of the "tense up defensive mode". Its like somebody forgot to tell them that the enemy has quit attacking! It usually takes the pain meds and muscle relaxors to accomplish this. When all settles down, the relief lasts 3-4 days. He uses Marcaine/Lidocaine combo with Heparin, Elimiron, and I am thinking sodium-bicarbonate, but I am not sure about the last one. But if that's not it, there is a 4th ingrediant. I would love to do these at home, or at the very least the Marcaine/Lidocaine part, since I get so much refief from it, but he wont let me. Hope this anwers your questions and wasnt more info than you wanted! ---Amy
