Well sometimes when you're in a flare (aka "feeling wicked crappy") mode curl up with a good book or 3....
"Wicked" by Gergory Maguire: It tells the story of Oz from the Wicked Witch of the West's perspective. It's not a children's book, its geared more towards an older reader....definitely fun. I'm still plowing thru it
"Summer Sisters" by Judy Blume: A tale of two girls who grow up and spend summers together at Martha's Vineyard. I read three-quarters of it in one day.
"A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey: Really coudn't put this one down...Frey's own account of his six week stint in rehab. Geeeeez! "Gripping' was definitely a great word to describe this. And I don't give a rip what the media says about him, I still think its an excellent read regardless.

Yvette,
Ahhhhhhh! I have tried to "plow through Wicked" a few times. Hoping to still do it. I have tickets to see the play at the Opera House in the spring, can't wait, but would love to have the literary version under my belt.
A Million Little Pieces-I too devoured this book and I have had many an argument about it since the Smokinggun debacle reveals it's less than genuine content. I too feel the book was too good, to important and reviews can't change how I felt after reading it. I feel like just one person might pick up that book someday and find some strength...
If you liked it, make SURE to read My Friend Leonard, the sequel. It is a POWERFUL story about friendship.
I could go on and on about books, but will spare you...I just love anything that grabs me. Especially on cold, yucky and snowy days.
I like to see this forum with activity, I love to hear what others are reading. Okay, maybe tonight I will dig out my Wicked book again and try to dive back in!

Judy Blume's book was good, read that a few years ago. Anyone read John Grisham's latest? (The Broker?) Its a little different than most of his others- read that this past weekend. Just started reading Nora Roberts "In the Garden Trilogy- (1st book is Blue Dahlia - pretty good read most of it already (read alittle bit each night before going to bed) I have a little bit of everything on my bookshelves -- mostly mysteries. I buy books thinking I have time to read them but I don't and then I find time and I'll read a couple of books on the weekend.

ooh, i just listened to 'a million little pieces' on audiobook (i work as a data entrant at a health insurance company so we listen to the rado/audio books daily just to keep our brains from melting via boredom lol) and it was fantastc. i kept giggling though b/c of the james/lilly pairing...only b/c james and lilly was the name of harry potter's parents and they were doomed. i'm terrible. lol
as for books i'd recommend, any thing by bill bryson, especially 'a short history of nearly everything' and 'a walk in the woods' -he is hysterically funny and very, very interesting to read. brilliant, one might say.
and for fiction, i absolutely loved jennifer weiner's 'good in bed' (her subsequent novels weren't that great, unfortunately) and all the books in sophie kinsela's 'shopaholic' series. good distraction! ;)
