Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to post- aside from the obvious restraints of having a new bub, I have not had a good run of luck  I spent a week in hospital following the birth due to 2 post partum hemmorrages and since coming home have had all sorts of probs namely heavy` bleeding which resulted in me being readmitted for a D &C last week. I still had retained placenta (AGAIN- this happened after my 1st pregnancy as well  ) and following the surgery my blood pressure crashed to 30 / 50- NOT GOOD!!!!!! I swear, during the last two weeks I have had so much fluid and drugs pumped into me it's a wonder I don't need re-hab. Ironic after a drug free birth!!

The day before surgery I also developed mastitis and was SO sick. I am just so tired, drained and sore- not to metion blood deprived so now seriously` anaemic.

Alexander has had terrible colic which is difficult, but otherwise a healthy, thriving little boy.

Thank-you so much for all your kind words and thoughts- it really means a lot :kissing: Hopefully I will be better soon and able to post more often. It's just great to know that you are all here.

Have a great Australia Day, (also my birthday but I'm not really up to a celebration unfortunately and Matt goes back to work then also  )

Take care,

Sara

:) Hi Sara, I'm so sorry you had to deal with all this, I know what you mean about the placenta retaining, I had the same thing happen after my son was born 17 years ago, he was discharged from the hospital, but because of my placenta problem they wouldn't let me go, I begged and begged and they finally relented and discharged me, the placenta finally came out about 2 days later ( sorry it's a bit gross) I was fine, but they really worried I may have a lot of bleeding with it, but luckely it didn't happen. You have a lot to deal with at the moment, and alexander having colic doesn't make it easier, but hopefully things will settle down soon.
take care
Martha :)

Sara, sounds as if you are having WAY too much fun!
You poor thing. I hope you have lots of support there to help you get through. This retained placenta must more common than I thought. After my son's birth I had the same thing but the Gyno went in straight away and removed it manually. Fortunately they put me under immediately. But I didn't get to hold my baby until hours after the birth.

I hope you feel better soon and get back on your feet quickly. I'd love to see a photo of Alexander. Can you put one onto the boards when you are up to it?

Thanks everyone :) I went out shopping this morning and realised I was not up to it AT ALL. I nearly fainted dead away in the middle of the shopping centre. Luckily Matt was with me. I can't wait to feel normal again.

I hope you are going well, Jess? Not too long to go now! I spent the last 2 weeks in hospital prior to the birth because of the pressure on my bladder I couldn't walk because of the pain. Hope you have a better time of it!!!! At least I got some much needed time out :)

Sara I hope you feel better soon. It sounds like you've been through so much with this birth. I'm sure in time it will all heal and after that you will have little Alexander to bring you as much joy and happiness and little Claudia has. I love the name Alexander, by the way.

We have all been thinking of you throughout and will continue to think of you as you get past this hurdle. :grouphug:
