I've recently been put on long term antibiotic treatment (not for IC). Anyway, as is usual with me and antibiotics, I ended up with a yeast infection. So I talk to the doc to tell him I have to stop the antibiotics while I try and deal with the yeast. He says "are you using yogurt?" I say "doc, if I have to eat anymore yogurt, I'm going to be sick!" He says "oh.... you're not supposed to EAT the yogurt, you're supposed to APPLY it to the vagina!"
I always thought you were supposed to eat it ... LOL... no wonder it never did a dang thing!
Anyone else had this wrong?

I didn't know about that. Well, you learn something new everyday. Does it help with the infection, or just the symptoms?

Apparently you won't get an infection if you apply it. He gave me some material about it, which I will try to post ... according to him there are 2 types of yeast infection that you can get, and depending on which, you actually use a different yogurt, as different yogurt contains different bacteria - sumthin like that ... hmm... will dig up the info and post it.
Glad I'm not the only one who didn't know! lol.. I felt so stupid, all these years I've been eating it try to prevent an infection ( and I HATE yogurt ) and I didn't have to!

Yogurt applied directly is an old, old remedy for yeast infection. It may help, but it takes a long time to do so.

I know of quite a few people that place the Probotics (such as Yogurt) right on their vagina.
Both orally and applied directly are done. :grouphug: Let us know how it goes.
