I have had lower back pain for over a year. I've been through all the OB GYN tests, have had an MRI and have not been diagnosed with anything but sacroiliac joint dysfunction by my chiropractor. The symptoms, however, don't end there. I get more pain in my back during my mentrual cycle and and lately I have constant discomfort in my lower right abdomen. I have to pee all the time. I wake up twice at night to pee. My bladder always feels full, even when it's not, and when it is, I have that feeling that I've been holding it forever. It's almost a burning sensation.
Has anyone had the back pain with IC? Does this sound like I have it or something else? Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Have you seen a urologist? If not, I think that would be a good idea. It's possible that what you have is IC, but not necessarily.

That's about the only doctor I have not seen, since the peeing problem just came up within the last couple of months. I have my OB appt. in March and thought I could hold out, but I'm not so sure. Thanks for the tip.

I had severe lower back pain when I had my first flare. It is better now that I am following the diet and taking Elaval and Nuerontin. Also, the pain meds help along with stretching and walking. I find that if I stand to long it really bothers me. I agree with Donna. You need to see a urologist. My obgyn refered me to one. Good luck!

Dear Leevh, welcome to the iCN and I agree you need to see a urologist. Just one pointer, I dont know where you live, but try looking up one one the list here first, at least you know they will know what IC is. Sometimes getting the right Doctor is the hardest part of getting IC treatment. I wish you the best!!! And am praying you DON't have IC.

Hi leevh,
Welcome to the ICN! I've had bad lower back pain for many, many years --
in addition to suffering with IC for 17 years. I never has an MRI or x-ray of my lower back. I'm not sure if my aching back is at all related to IC, but I guess it's a possibility. As I'm writing this note to you, my back is hurting badly. I do agree with the others that you should see a urologist. Good luck and I hope that you don't have IC. If you need to talk or have any questions, I'm always here to listen and lend support.
Take care.
Love,
KarenIC

Your symptoms sound very much like IC. Back pain, pain in abdomen and everything else you mentioned are all how I feel every day.

I hope you don't have it, but it sounds like some of the IC symptoms I've had....especially feeling like you have to pee when there's nothing really in there. I think to be thorough you might want to look into having a cystoscopy where they can look at your bladder with a little camera. They did mine under anesthesia.

Hi all. My doctor suggested an abdomen CT scan because of all my symptoms. The scan came out normal. Would IC show up on the scan?
