Hydrodistention a charm 2nd time around?
I had my first hydrodistention for diagnostic purposes on 6/18/04. I did not have any improvement, only pain for 2 weeks.
Now, I asked the 2nd urologist if I should get it again since I was still having a lot of burning and pelvic pain so frequently even though I am on meds and getting instills. So, in December 2005 I was approved by my insurance for another hydro which I am scheduled for 2/6/06. However, since requesting this, my bladder has been great for almost a month. The only thing different was that I have been eating more. Now, I am wondering should I just leave my bladder alone? Or, if I cancel, my symptoms will probably reappear.

Oh gosh, that's a tough one! Isn't that always the way, it's just like you have that hair appt scheduled, and the day before or day of your hair does the most perfect things...then you worry if getting it messed with will throw a monkey wrench into the works. If it were me, and this is JUST me, I would probably not get it done, since it's not needed for a diagnosis, etc since my bladder was feeling good. I don't think I'd want to rock the boat myself, lol ;) But again, that's just me, it's a decision you have to make -- maybe call your doc and discuss it, see what he/she thinks.
Good luck! ;)
Hugs!

I'm not a boat-rocker either -- my uro suggested having one this summer to "look around" but I don't see why we need to "look around" when I'm doing okay right now ;) Maybe because I'm a new patient and he wants to see the mess in there for himself? LOL :)
Anyway, I'm in with traceann on this one; I wouldn't rock the boat either (and I'm not gonna, personally, unless something goes really wrong between then and now). I especially wouldn't do it since you got no relief the first time. 'Course, it's up to you :grouphug:

While I get great relief from them, if I was feeling ok, I wouldn't rock the boat either. I am also one of those people that if there is a 1 in 1000 chance for something wacky to happen I never do things halfway.

Have to say, I agree with the rest. I always got incredible relief from them, but I would not "rock the boat" either.

Last year from August to mid October, I felt great and I was just getting the instills. Then, mid October through most of December, I felt awful again. That is when I asked about the hydro. In my mind, I know that the pain free days won't last forever. I see the uro again next Thursday for another instill.
I work for a drag racing company that will begin its season for the year month end in February. I could postpone it until March since we only have one event and see how I am feeling. Yes, I would hate to rock the boat.
