my husband takes it. I myself take welbutrin xl. That is the only one I could tolerate. Elavil was horrible, and effexor made me vomit for days.. and the ones in between didn't do there job.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I was just curious as I didn't see anywhere about anyone else taking this drug. I just started it yesterday so I don't have any input on it yet.

I tried celexa for awhile.... emotion wise it didn't work for me cuz I have a high tolerance for certain meds... but that's not to say it wont work for you. It's gotta build up in your system so if you see improvements it's gonna take a lil bit.
Keep an ongoing emotion journal to track your progress... progress is hard to see in retrospect sometimes....
I don't know if it'll bother your bladder cuz when I was using it I wasn't experiencing severe symptoms and hadn't been aware I had IC.
I hope it's your solution.....

I took it for about a month helped a little but I was way too tired while I took it. The only anti depressant I haven't tried was the new one in 2005.

Im 19 and I took celexa for 2 years. The first few days I started to take it it made me feel weird when I yawned but I have to say it worked for me after a week and I felt a huge diffrence. There were the occasional upsets but just from regular life u know. After 2 years it fixed me and I have been off of it for 3 years and im fine. :woohoo:
I was on it for about a yr,,after my mum died. It helped with my out of control crying jags & emotional ups & downs,,,but I really felt like it killed ALL my emotions. I know it killed my sex drive,,thats why i stopped. ;(

This isn't in regards to Celexa but in regards to something affecting the sex drive. I took 1 Sarafem pill & I couldn't believe how spaced out I felt #1, #2 that sex waxn't satisfying. I never took another one!

Violet, you could possibly try another tricyclic antidepressant -- sinequan, nortriptilene, or others that are also in the same family as elavil.
I hope I'm not mistaken, but this is my understanding of how this stuff goes with IC:
If you do NOT have problems with urgency/frequency but primarily with pain, you could try any others. I think the main appeal of the tricyclics is that they help with urgency and frequency. The SSRIs -- prozac, paxil, and zoloft -- are a different family of drug and have a different set of side effects from tricyclics (for instance they are not known to induce so much weight gain). And there are newer drugs too. It's a long journey to find what works for you -- look at tigger's post -- in the past, I tried different things and found myself always returning to Paxil once I was familiar with that one.
You will have to talk to your doctor about your needs, but I think you have options.

Just wondering if anyone has had any side effects from celexa? I can't stop yawning and could sleep all the time. :hmm: I also have no desire for sex now either.
