Hey guys...I had a doctors appt. this morning...It was with nurse practioner...she is very nice and kinda specializes in Pelvic Floor (which is my newest problem) I had a scheduled appt tom with my uro but she told me to cancel it...She scheduled me for a Catscan because I had blood in my urine today. (She thinks that I may have kidney stones...??) She also scheduled me for electrostim at her office for my pelvic floor and also she is having my uro do another Cysto....
Does this sounds like normal procedure??...I have already been diagnosed with IC.

Sorry you have ic! It's a sad dx, but at least you have the dx, right?

The electrostim for the PFD sounds pretty normal, and asking that the uro do another Cysto, if its a hydro/cysto she might be hoping that it will help with your symptoms. Have you had the hydro/cysto before? About the catscan for the kidney stone. When I had them I had a IVP done. Where they insert a fluid in a IV that goes to the kidneys and drain. While it is draining the make X-ray's to see if they see a blockage or not. That does not always show up with kidney stones. Mine did not and I passed a huge one. The blood in your urine was is it visiable or only seen under the microscope?

It is just a cysto...I have had a hydrodistention before and also an office cysto so I am not sure why she wants to do this...maybe to check and see what it looks like because of the blood in my urine?? (it was only visible under microscope!) I have also had an IVP done but this is an actual Catscan...we will see...I kinda would like to talk to my uro...maybe I can call tomm when he is there!

Sounds as though she just wants to recheck the bladder in the office. Also with blood only visible under the microscope, alot of ICers have this. With some it is a normal occurance with the disease. I would be more concerned if there where visible blood in the toliet or alot when you went to the bathroom. Then you could have one of many things like a UTI, Kidney Infection or the stones. Not real sure about the catscan though. Like you said maybe you can contact and talk to your uro. Maybe he will know more of what is going on.

Yeah.. I think that I will call him tomm...She said that it may be just the IC but she also mentioned kidney stones...I guess just to make sure she wants to have the Catscan done! I have never had blood in my urine before...so that kinda freaked me out a little but like you said people with IC can have it.

They may want to check for stones in the bladder. I had a cystoscopy yesterday and that's one of the things my Doctor said she was checking for.

They diagnosed my kidney stones with a ct scan also. At first it was looking for why I was having chronic pelvic pain. So they made me do the whole disgusting barium thing, then they also did the contrast fluid through IV during the scan. I almost threw up on the machine from the contrast, but I also had drank all that disgusting barium before. I had an KUB xray before with contrast and didn't have any problems with it. The only reason they discovered my kidney stones was the scan. Once I saw the uro after that he made me go back for another scan without barium or contrast because he said they can see them better without it during a ct scan. So don't be too concerned about it being normal. But, if you can get away with just an xray-do it! They say ct scans emit the most radiation of all tests of those types. Unfortunately the uro told me an mri wouldn't show kidney stones. Good luck!

I went in on Friday for a Cytoscopy and he had no results yet from the Catscan but I have never had such bad pain as I felt that day....I cried through the procedure (cytoscopy) and after and the whole way home...He is going to schedule me for another Hydrodistention...That helped me alot last time. So we will see what happens!
Thanks for your responses!
