I am new here. I was dx'd with IC about 9 mos ago. I also have had fibromyalgia for quite a few years. The IC began about October of 2004, after I had a difficult hysterectomy done. I was filled with scar tissue, and the doc had to work around my bladder. UGH.
I had pain w/intercourse before the surgery due to scar tissue. Now it's from IC. I don't even want it anymore.
I can't drink coffee; I do drink mostly decaf tea and that seems to be ok. I drink alot of water.
I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome; during the constipation phase I have to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes, and practically nothing comes out.
I am on Elmiron and Imipramine. It is definitely helping. I usually get up 2 or so times a night for the bathroom. Sometimes many more, not often any less.
I have 2 sons, 1 daughter and 3 stepsons. I have 2 gdaughters, 1 is almost 13, 1 is 22 mos and she and her dad livewith us (I'm pretty much her mom), and 2 new gsons. One new gson was born last May 6 weeks early, one was born July 6, 9 weeks early and 3 1/2 lbs. They are both doing beautifully.
I am looking 48 years in the eye right now. My husband just turned 59. My mother lives with us. She is 71 and also has fibromyalgia. My daughter is a few weeks away from 28; she will have thyroid surgery on Tues. for a blood filled cyst, possibly cancerous.
IC sucks. I also have osteoarthritis and tendonitis in many joints, bursitis in my right hip, migraines, TMJ, degenerating disks and bulging disks, achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis both feet, back spasms and many more health problems. Fortunately I qualified for SSdisability a few years ago, but I'll have a review soon and I'm not looking forward to it. It was very hard to get the disability in the 1st place, I don't have the energy to fight with them again.
My eldest son, who will be 30 in March, has multiple disabilites. He has Tourette Syndrome and attention deficit disorder, a sleep disorder, and degenerating disks, with 2 back surgeries. From scar tissue he has bladder function problems. He has an anxiety problem too. He is also handsome as heck, artistically talented and very smart. He lives with me too, and I take care of him.
My husband had a heart attack in June. My daughter's water broke the following Tues. night. They stopped her contractions; that medicine caused her to develop fluid on her lungs that turned into pneumonia. After that she developed pre-eclampsia. They took the baby after 8 days in the hospital. In Sept. I had a breast biopsy that was negative, now we're waiting for my daughter's surgery. My cousin's 12 year old daughter was dx'd w/brain cancer and is not doing well. She may have to be transferred to St. Jude's hospital.
Last year was the year from hell. This one isn't shaping up any better. My mother fell a few weeks ago and wouldn't go to the hospita. Now she can hardly walk. She finally called the doc and had some x-rays taken yesterday. She has a very bad knee and needs surgery there too.
I'm hoping things look up soon. I should thank God that all our problems so far have turned out well though. It's still hard to go through it all. It doesn't make the IC any better either.
Thanks for letting me rant. Life is hard, and I think I'll find some info here that helps make dealing with this disease a little easier!
