My friend just lent me a book "Fibromyalgia & Chronic Myofascial Pain, a survival manual", I am reading it now. It has tons of information in an easy to read/understand format.
I am not diagnosed yet, but am seeing different doctors for various ailments, which I believe my be all related to Fibromyalgia .Foot pain, pelvic, hip pain.
Memory problems.
I suggest checking your local library for books.
You're lucky to have a supportive boyfriend.

Fibro SUCKS! Fibro attacks the muscles and gel substance between the bones, sometimes I can't walk because of the pain in my feet. I take flexeril for this. When I get cold I stiffen up and am affraid to move, because I know it will hurt. I also have myofascial pain syndrom, which makes your skin hurt. Pac168r's book sounds like a good place to start.
sending hugs and hope you feel bettter soon

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia the way you were -- the "tender point" test. Fibro patients tend to have tender points in a set of 18 specific points in the body, and having pain when a certain number of these are pressed (in the absence of any other problem that could cause this) usually points to fibro. My symptoms were muscle pain, severe morning stiffness, pain/stiffness in legs and back in particular, severe fatigue (able to sleep 15 hrs or more, with bathroom breaks, of course), and a general sense that I was "coming down with the flu" -- that achy, almost feverish, "even-my-skin-hurts" feeling. I also had some memory problems at the time.
I also have myofascial pain syndrome, which can cause certain muscles to tighten and cause cramping pains that radiate to other places in the body.
There are a lot of treatments you can try. Don't get discouraged! :) The Fibro Survival manual someone else recommended is an excellent book; I had one and it went missing so I ended up buying a new copy on Amazon.com because it's such a great reference!!!!

okay so im not going crazy, ive felt like ive had the flu forever. do you take medication for fibro? or is it kinda like IC in the fact that you can take pain med's etc but nothing will make it go away. sorry to ask so many questions but this is all new to me.

Unfortunately, fibro IS like IC in that it will not go away. BUT, there are medications that can help enormously. I take Zanaflex (a muscle relaxant), my pain meds, and a medication called Lyrica, which is for nerve pain (it helps my IC too). Warm baths can help, and just doing some stretches when you feel up to it can also make life easier. Discuss your options with your pain specialist and see what he suggests.
