And have you had any success with pinpointing triggers that way? I'm finding that I am having some other reactions to food, such as wheezing and occasionally hives. Has anyone else experienced this??
Thanks!
Kara
Hello,
Yes, I did have allergy testing & based on that, eliminated a few foods & did have a small amount of improvement from that.
It wasn't a huge success, but hey, every little bit helps!

Hi Kara,
I've been getting allergy shots for seasonal and environmental allergies for about 18 months. Even though they help a bunch with other symptoms, they don't seem to do much for my bladder. I have recently started taking progesterone drops for a 'questionable' progesterone allergy that seems to be helping quite a bit. You can read up on "hormone allergies" if you do a search on the Dr. Roby Institute. I also found out through allergy testing that I am allergic to coconut. It's in everything! This was causing me to be very rashy, since coconut was in my soaps and lotions.
good luck!

Thanks ladies for your replies and input! I'm considering doing this because since the IC diagnosis, I've noticed that some of my *suspected* allergies to environmental allergens......MAY actually be FOOD related. Sure, I have the pollen and spring allergy nightmare, but just last night I ate some ravioli (yes...with sauce) and started wheezing and stuffy headed!! UGGHH!! I just need to figure out real soon what I can eat because everyone is telling me to "gain weight"! UGH!!! SO far, my worst reaction to foods is blackberries. They put me in FULL blown hives and I have to go to the ER!
Gabby that's wild! I've never really thought about coconut being in everything, but yeah..now that you mention it, it is in a TON of soaps and lotions and whatnot. I have really sensitive skin too, wonder why?
I think I will just do an allergy testing...It's a start, right...and like Kadi says, every little bit does help. I wonder if my insurance with cover it??? hmmmm...

Allergy testing can tell you what foods to avoid and not to eat and what you are allergic to. But they dont get specific like MSG and so forth that can be found in foods. Could be worth trying just to see. When I got my allergy testing I was allergic to just about everything outside. I would break out in huge hives like I had posion ivy and so forth. Would run fever and just be sick. I never thought the outside was my enemy. You might be surprised about that.
Depending on what food allergy you are allergic to, the allergy shot more than likely would not help. My son is highly allergic to eggs and nuts. He was taking weekly and now monthly allergy shots. These help with the other allergies such as pollen, molds, cats dogs etc but do not help with his food allergy. Those two things will be a life long problem for him and his allergy shots do not include anything for food allergies.
