I just had to share this.

My fiancee and I went to Target today to buy curtains. I was having a "good" day and felt like I could shop all day. Eventually, I had to use the bathroom and usually for me, urgency follows for about 10-15 minutes after I've emptied my bladder. I thought, "I'll be okay, I can just breathe through this and I'll be fine." By the time I got back to the curtain section I was having chills and I felt a bit uncomfortable. My fiancee said (as he does now every time I come out of the bathroom), "Everything go okay?" I said "I'm fine," and we proceeded for the next few minutes to discuss colors for the drapes. While I was talking, I sort of squatted down on the floor, half-sitting, which for some reason makes my urgency feel better. My fiancee turns around and looks down at me, smiles, and says, "You wanna sit in the cart?"

For someone who is newly diagnosed (me), I can only hope this sort of humor lasts me through the whole New Year.

Oh yeah, I agree with Donna, sounds like you definitely have a keeper! And let me tell you a sense of humor about it all will serve you well, ;) I used to do the squat thing too! Only, never had to employ it in a store, lmao! But hey, anything that works is ok in my book :biglaugh:

So, was it hard to climb in the cart?? LMAO!!! (belive me, I have MANY times thought about doing just that!!)

Hugs!

Now I'm wondering...why does squatting feel beeter?

:) OMG, I do the same thing as you, if I'm out shopping , and I have the urgency feeling, I squat and I pretend to look at things at the bottom shelf, until the feeling goes, I don't know why it works, but it does for me,.. I agree you have a very caring man there.

Yep, I can remember when my hubby would get home for the weekend, he and I standing around snacking in the kitchen, well, I should say - him standing, me squatting, lol. I think (just my opinion though) it's got something to do with the pelvic floor issues. I think I do have some PFD, just haven't asked the doc about it and there are no PFD therapists in my area at all. But it seemed to put my pelvic floor in a more comfortable position....

I just went out to shop and ended up coming right back home because I started to have burning and strong urgency. I'll have to try the squatting thing next time. I press a pillow up against my lower abdomen when I'm in bed. Somehow seems to give me some relief.

The pillow works great, or even a blanket bunched up. I lay with a pillow and rock.

I was really in heaven when I bought my body pillow -- that thing is fabulous, one of the best things I ever bought. Helped the back and the bladder!! LOL Oh yeah, my hubby would do the same things, he always managed to make me laugh when I really didn't want to...thank goodness for that!! :)

Here's another good one:

I went to the Urgent Care with what I thought was a bladder infection. After a urine stick test, they said I had a raging kidney infection and needed IV meds and fluid right then- no time to go to the ER! With all the nurses running around in a panic I started to cry and they asked me if someone brought me in. I said, yes, my boyfriend is in the waiting room. When he came in and saw me nearly hysterical he gave me a kiss and told me he would be right back. I assumed that he went outside to smoke, but he really went to the pediatric area and took some stickers and proceeded to sing and entertain me while the IV was going. Whenever a nurse would come in he would say,"Dammit, woman! I'm missing The West Wing for this!"

I'll never forget it.
