I was diagnosed approx. 3 or so months ago with IC. I have a fairly mild case I think, mostly frequency, urgency, and pressure, although some pain at times. My doctor suggested instillations and electric stimulation therapy, verse Elmiron, I am only 26 and am trying to avoid medicine everyday for the rest of my life. I have since stopped the instillations because I find them very painful and am not convinced they are safe based on what I have read so far (granted I still have alot to learn about IC and treatments). I am writing to see if anyone has any experience with the electric stimulation to share. I am about to complete my sixth week of treatment, and my doctor has suggested at least 4 more weeks, I get 1 treatment a week. I have a very high "base line" if anyone understands what that means, I guess my pelvic and bladder muscles are constantly tensed as a "defense mechanism" according to my doctor. Basically with this treatment they place a probe object in my vagina and send electric stimulations constant for approx. 20 minutes, it is not painful, at times uncomfortable, however not painful. Does anybody have experience with this treatment cause I am not finding alot of literture out there??
