I have read on a few websites that one of the symptoms some people with ic have is mucus in the throat. I continually have it especially when I am in a flare. Does anyone else?

I had no idea that was related to IC but yes I have it too!
I always have to hack-up mucus that's clogging my throat :o/

My allergist seems to know a lot about IC. He believes there is a definite connection. Yes, I have noticed that when my asthma is bad so is my IC.

I also think it has to do with an allergy connection. I've had more itching throat, rash on throat & mucus since I got IC. I just wish I could tolerate Atarax, since it helps so many with allergy/IC... (It gives me an awful pounding heartbeat & anxiety).

Never had that problem and I had severe IC. Judith

I get the mucus and I also get a polyp in my nostral that flares up. When the polyp flares up, I usually have an IC type flare too. I honestly think it's connected!

It is funny you say that because when I have flared lately like right now I have been getting these sores in my nose too. Weird huh?

It is weird. I wonder if it is a sort of alergic reaction. Or something to do with the mast cells. I think the antihistamine is helping me. I could not deal with the elavil. It just made me feel too bad . I am having a lot of dry eyes and feeling dehydrated with the antihist. though, but it's worth it.

What kind of antihistimine are you taking? Yes I was on elavil too and it made my heart race and my blood pressure go up and made me feel crazy so now I am on enablex and lexapro and I feel a lot better than I did. I am still on high blood pressure meds from the elavil

Right now, I am just taking benedryl. I had a script from my dr but it knocked me out and made my eyes very dry. I currently take 1/2 benedryl at night (about 12 mg) and that is still effective but not making me feel like a zombie the next day. I really think it's helped me and those sores or polps or whatever in my nose dryed up!

I have a chronic post nasal drip from years of smoking. Even though I quit smoking over twenty years ago, the damage in my nasal passages will never go away per my physician.
